Children of Bodom & Lamb of God!

Unread post by alexestes »

I went to see Lamb of God with special guests As I Lay Dying, Children of Bodom, God Forbid, and Municipal Waste May 2nd at the Pageant in St. Louis, MO. GREAT SHOW!! My girlfriend and I got to the venue around 12:30 to try to meet Children of Bodom and Lamb of God...Unfortunately the only member of Bodom that we saw outside at all was there lead guitarist Roope Latvala. He was very nice but didn't speak very good English...We did manage to meet Willie, John, Chris, and Mark from Lamb of God! This was the 4th time I've met them, but this time Chris wasn't as nice as before. I had him sign my stuff but the pen was dying and the auto on the cd cover barely showed up. I quickly pulled out a fresh pen and politely asked if he would go over them, but he said he didn't have time. They were getting ready to go to a meet and greet down the road so I know they were on a time schedule, but really there were only 4 of us getting autographs and he ended up sitting in the van waiting to leave for 10-15 minutes. Mark came of the opening band's bus 5 minutes after Chris got there and he wasn't in any hurry. He signed for me, my girlfriend, and 3 other people. We all even took pictures with him...Definitely very cool!! Got a pick from John Campbell too!

Very nice! I saw this show here in Louisville on May 5th. I didn't try to get any autos, as I've gotten LOG a few times and Alexi Laiho once. I think this was his second show after breaking his shoulder, but he played anyway and never missed a note! Byron and Corey from God Forbid walked by us, so my ol' lady took a picture of me with them.

Did you get to go to the show?

Hell yeah I went to the show!! I'll never miss a LOG show in St.Louis! I've had to drive to KC twice to see them and I hope I don't have to do that anymore. I've seen them 7 times and this was in the top 2favorite LOG shows for me. My favorite was in KC at the Memorial Hall with Killswitch Engage, DevilDriver, and Soilwork. The show was awesome cuz halfway through LOG's set their lighting board shorted out, so they played the rest of the show with just overhead house lights the way they did back in the day. Very stripped down and brutal show! And still one of the biggest circle pits I've ever seen...That show gets mentioned on the "Walk With Me In Hell" dvd. They claim a truck hit a pole down the road and made the lights cut out. But we were sitting directly behind the light guy and some jackasses in the balcony kept chucking beer into the crowd and kept spilling it on the light board.....This last show was AWESOME!!! I was happy to see Bodom up there rockin' still (they just dropped off the tour a few days ago I believe), and they got a great crowd response. LOG absolutely killed!! That's one of the loudest shows I've ever been to, and I've been right by the speakers for Slayer a couple different times! I highly recommend checking out a LOG show to anyone who's never been.

I was thinking the same thing! I've been up front all three times I've seen them, but this show was the loudest thing I've ever heard!

Laiho must have broken his shoulder the night after you saw them. At our show (on the 5th) he said 'two days ago'.

I didn't realize they had canceled any dates, but then again, I wouldn't really have any reason to follow it after I saw the show.
