What to write?

Unread post by Jaffer »

Hello! I am a reletivly new collecter, and all of my successes have been IP or via email. I am starting to write now! But I have one question. In the letter I send the celeb, should I focus more on their work, and why I love them as most sites recommend, or focus more on telling them about myself, which some other sites seem to recommend. Any input/feedback history would be appreciated!

Hey {up}

I always write my name, where Im from and how old I am at the beginning and then I go on to tell the celeb why Im a fan, what I like about them, my favourite song/episode/film they have been in and things like that.

Good Luck :mrgreen:

I do it the the same way as Paigey does.
Sometimes I add some more information about me while writing why I like them and so on... To let you know what I mean I wrote down an example.
Example (I'll write it like I'm writing to a soccer player): I've been a huge fan of your for 5 years. When I was younger I was playing soccer with my brother and that is how I started to like it. Of course I prefer to watch it because I'm not very good at it...
Hope it helps! ;-)

I usually shoot for a solid page of writing, but no more than that. I spend a good 1.5 hrs+ researching the person, and try to find more obscure information about them than what I assume everyone knows them for. Happy Birthday, Congratulations of the birth of your child, what was it like working with...you get the idea. The autograph request is always the last paragraph. You may have a little trouble getting people to tell you too much about how they write there letters. My experience is that autograph collectors tend to think of their writing style like KFC thinks of their "secret blend of herbs and spices". Your style will evolve over time if you write enough letters. I've written hundreds over the years and definitely seen how it affects my response rate (albeit I'm sure there are numerous factors that go into that...)
Anyway, just keep trying new things and write your letters genuinely, and you'll be just fine.

i usually just sent a friendly letter, say something nice and talk about their successes and at the end ask for an autograph. {up}
