Posting a small package into a post box?

Unread post by -Lil1- »

Hiya,
I was just wondering, (I am in UK) If I was to post a small package (Smaller than half of an a4 sheet)
With the right ammount of stamps, would it get there?

Also, If I was to post a letter in a post box, that is bigger than a4, with the right ammount of stamps, would that still arrive?
Or do I need to take both to the post office?

Thanks for your help!

As long as you have the right stamps for wherever the destination, and it fits into the post box, you can drop it in there. Anything larger than A4 probably wont fit, nor will anything too thick. Remember though that postage is more for larger items, not just heavier items. Items are divided into small letter, larger letter & package size. Then of course you've got the weight issue, and whether you send it first or second class or parcel rate...

... it's easier to take it to the post office, but you can find details of the exact price you'd need to pay for all these things on the Royal Mail website.

The best thing to do would be to take it into the post office. That way you can be sure that everything is fine.

My top tip: If your parents work in an office/for a company, ask them to post it at work (you must pay for the postage) - Some bussinesses get priority postage.

That's also true. If they have a franking machine, franking is cheaper than stamps :)
