VV help?

Unread post by sandra053 »

hi there (:
im going to send a letter+request for Taylor Swift to the Palce of Auburn Hills in Michigan.
and i have a few questions, since my first VV i got a RTS.
so here are my questions:) :

1. Does the palace still accept fanmail?
2. Since im in Canada, and the venue is in the states, in my sae what kind of stamp do i include, or w/e else ?
3. Taylor Swift is actually the special guest for Keith Urban, will she still sign my pictures?
4. How big of an envelope should my SASE be?
5. Does Taylor answer q&a's? i know she did in other successes, but just wondering.

i might have more questions on the way, so feel free to pop back the next day or so.

Hi there!

1. Does the palace still accept fanmail?
Check out this thread: http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic ... 25&t=24711 or you can always email the venue

2. Since im in Canada, and the venue is in the states, in my sae what kind of stamp do i include, or w/e else ?
You need to include US stamps

3. Taylor Swift is actually the special guest for Keith Urban, will she still sign my pictures?
Im sure if you address the envelope to her, she might

4. How big of an envelope should my SASE be?
Big enough so the photo can fit in it

5. Does Taylor answer q&a's? i know she did in other successes, but just wondering.
Not sure, theres no reason why she wouldnt

Feel free to ask anymore questions

Hi Sandra053

I am from Canada too and I have sent and received quite a few autographs Via Venue. You would put the US stamps on the envelope addressed to you. I have found it hard to get US stamps and its expensive for IRCs so I just put 2 Canadian 96 cent stamps on the envelope addressed to you and it has always come back. I have never had problems that way although I have heard that we arent supposed to do that. Good luck and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask or pm me! {thumb2}

Hi Sandra053 :)

You can buy US stamps from USPS. BUT the shipping is REALLY expensive. USPS charges $6 US to send them to Canada, THEN Canada charges $5 to process it and charge you tax on the price of the product. If it's over $20 then they charge you tax. If it's under then you aren't charged tax. You'll first need to determine how much it will cost you to mail a letter from the US to Canada. Then order the stamps that will add up to the amount you require.

I always get enough to cover 3 oz. (85 grams) because I always include a cardboard in my envelope, so for me it now costs $1.55 US to mail a letter from the US to Canada. The other option is to include $2 US, which you can easily buy at any bank. BUT if you are sending VV they may not be able to take it to the post office to mail it. Same with an IRC. Unless they have time, or can send a PA to take care of it for them it won't get back to you. That's why it's always a really good idea to have a SASE.

I recommend you have your "return" envelope weighed at the post office---that's only what is being returned to you, your SASE and photo(s), and cardbaord should you chose to include it.

You can then go on USPS and look up the cost of mailing it back to Canada. It gives the size of envelope, and the weight, and cost.

I always include a cardboard in my envelope so I always put on enough postage to cover 3 oz. (85 grams). It is now $1.55 US.

I use 9"x12" envlopes so they are plenty big enough for large photos. I always include my own 8.5"x11" photos.

Here is the page at USPS to determine how much it will cost you.

http://ircalc.usps.gov/default.aspx?Mod ... &CID=10054

Just click on large envelope, put in the weight in ounces (you can do a quick, easy conversion from grams to ounces or back by googling ounces to grams), then it will take you to a page that will give you the price for that weight.

For a large envelope:
1 oz: $1.03 US
2 oz. $1.29 US
3 oz. $1.55 US

I have read of people using their own country's postage on their return envelopes, and they seem to get them back. I would never take the risk myself though.

If you don't have enough time to get stamps your only other option is to include money ($2 US will cover it, and is much cheaper than one IRC, which may not be enough to cover the cost if it is heavier) and hope they can get someone to take it to the post office for you.
