I'm just wondering what the typical weight of a letter + SASE would be?
I'm trying to calculate international postage, and don't exactly have a pinpoint scale.
Letter + SASE: Weight?

Re: Letter + SASE: Weight?
Where are you sending to and how big is the envelope you are sending?
It is always best to take your envelope to the post office and get it weighed there, they will tell you the exact weight and how many stamps you will need {thumb2}

Re: Letter + SASE: Weight?
It depends on what size you SASE and envelope is:
I have mailed a 9X12 SASE and letter in a 6X9 envelope and it weighs EXACTLY one ounce:
Sending one ounce from the US overseas (Europe or Asia) is 0.98
To Canada or Mexico is 0.75
If the envelope addressed to the celebrity is larger you will need at least 1.24 but probably it will weigh over an ounce and need 2.08
Hope this helped {thumb2}

Re: Letter + SASE: Weight?
I was thinking a letter and 9x12 inside a regular 4.25x12 envelope.
I'll be sending to various countries, so I was only looking for a weight and I'd be able to calculate postage myself.

Re: Letter + SASE: Weight?
Don't send 9x12 envelopes in a regular small white envelope. It doesn't work out well. I did that ones, and because it had to be folded a lot to fit, it costed extra postage ($1.27) to send it. So, don't do that.
I recommend putting a letter and 9x12 SASE in a 5x7 envelope. It will cost less. I'm guessing it will be about 3 US stamps, if you're sending to another country. I sent from US to US that same size, and it was 2 stamps, I'm guessing that it will be another stamp or so to send to a different country. Correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm not positive.
Good luck on your requests!

Re: Letter + SASE: Weight?
How would the regular envelope possibly cost more than the 5x7?
So I'm guessing the general consensus is that it'd be either 1 or 2 ounce?

Yes, one ounce is the correct weight.dfreely wrote:How would the regular envelope possibly cost more than the 5x7?

I have no idea why missmaexox had to pay so much--it is the same price for the regular envelope and the 6X9 or 5X7.
I tried to fit a 9X12 into a legal sized envelope and my problem was that it was a pretty tight fit and I was worried the envelope would rip or not close-- so I stick with the 6X9s.
Let me know if you need more help. {thumb2}

Re: Letter + SASE: Weight?
Yeah, it is quite a tight fit, I have it to fold it three times. I'll look into the 6x9 and 5x7 envelopes. Do you have to fold them both ways (horizontally and vertically) to get them to fit?

Yes. That is the way I do it.dfreely wrote: I'll look into the 6x9 and 5x7 envelopes. Do you have to fold them both ways (horizontally and vertically) to get them to fit?
