Why the Envelope? And Validation question.

Unread post by wingedman »

I am just starting to collect Autographed Photos and signature cards by mail and was wondering what the significance of the envelope is?
Why does that need to be pictured and/or posted on line here? Is it for validation that it isn't a forgery?

Anyone ever think of starting a forum where folks can post their authenticated autographs for others to use for validation?

Hi wingedman! ;-)

Welcome to Fanmail.biz! {clap}

It is required to post a scan of the return envelope along with your autograph received, so we can see that it's not a forgery. {up} Members here can just look at the postmark, and then we'll know if it was received TTM or forged/bought.

Well, we actually already have a forum where you can do that - it's the "Is My Autograph Authentic?" forum. :mrgreen: You can post absolutely anything about autographs authenticity there - I regularly post a specific person's TTM autographs there, and carefully compare it to in person, preprint or scans from AutographWorld.com for others to use the guide. {thumb2} You can post a new topic (but please search before posting to see if theree isn't already a topic on the same category!) there to discuss your authenticated autographs so others can compare theirs! :D

Enjoy!

Could you clarify what you mean by that?

Also to be in with of a chance of winning the gift certificate, you need proof that you actually received it, not just copied a picture of someone elses request

Honestly I have never understood this either, because a lot of responses never have postmarks. Also, what is going to stop someone from just scanning any envelope? :neutral:

Great answers. Thanks. I can wait to have something to post. I have a handful of In Person autographs. I may scan them and post them for comparison purposes. Richard Hatch, Peter Mayhew, David Prowse, Jeremy Bullock, Kenny Baker, John Rhys Davies, Linda Blair, Ed Wasser, Julie newmar, and Lou Ferigno. If anyone wants to see them let me know.
