Ted Kennedy - Authentic or Power Pen?

Unread post by The Bionic Fan »

I recently wrote to Mr. Kennedy at the address in the database. I sent him a SASE and a letter and he was nice enough to send me back this photo and signature. I mailed out on 10 Mar. 2009 and received back on 19 Mar. 2009. It was one of main people I was hoping to get one from. Yah!! I Was wandering if this is authentic or power penned? It looks authentic to me.. Wanted a opinion! Thanks!

it could be autopen. (not sure what you mean by power pen - I think you mean autopen.)

I'd need to see it a bit clearer before I give you a definate answer, but right now I'm leaning toward autopen

Yep - it is autopen.

See how there's the "stop and start marks" where the pen is super thick in areas? that's one sign of an autopen.

Autopen. Kennedy has not been in Washington, D.C. recently. I believe he has been in Massachusetts undergoing treatment for his cancer.

This was not mailed to Washington, DC. It was mailed to Boston, MASS. The signature is smudged a little bit and the camera does not pic it up in photo. Do AP or PP signatures smudge? Just curious, because this one looks real to me up close. If it isn't it is not a real big deal, but would like it to be. It is the only Kennedy signature I have.. HAHAHAHa!

Ahhh. I thought that the address in the database was his Senate address. In that case, it could be authentic. I have never seen his AP say Ted Kennedy, it has always said Edward Kennedy.

From the picture, I still say autopen. The pressure points look pretty defined.
