Celebrity autographed DVD movies and TV sets?
I have noticed that everyone tends to get photos autographed. Why not get DVD movies and DVD TV shows autographed?
I've sent off for the following in the last month:
1. Jeff Bridges "The Big Lebowski 10th Anniversary Edition DVD" unopened for him to sign on the outer plastic cover.
2. Henry Winkler "Happy Days: The Complete First Season DVD set" unopened for him to sign on the outer box.
3. Gene Wilder "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory DVD" unopened for him to sign on the outer plastic cover.
4. Barry Williams "The Brady Bunch: The Complete First Season DVD set" unopened for him to sign on the outer box.
I got the Barry Williams DVD set back already and have it framed and matted and it looks GREAT!
Anyone else gotten any success from this sort of thing?

I send DVD inserts to get signed all the time. I think it is better than buying pics, when I already own the DVDs

I read on here that Gene Wilder no longer signs TTM, sadly
When I send, I usually just send a letter(and SAE/SASE of course) because if I send a DVD cover, I don't want to risk NOT getting it back. I like to see what the celeb sends back to me. Sometimes, I send a photo. But yes, what your doing is a good idea. {thumb2}

Yeah, I also like getting DVD covers signed. It makes a change from a photo in an album and it looks good. My best success is my Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves cover, though I've lost at least one through doing it (at least I presume I'm not getting it back.)1name1legend wrote:I send DVD inserts to get signed all the time. Thanks for the replies. Do you all think I'm making a mistake by getting the celeb autos on the outer plastic cover of the unopened DVD case? IMO, this way the DVD itself definitely hasn't been touched by human hands since the factory seals around the DVD box's edges are present. The inner DVD cover is impossible to remove because of this. A good NEW black sharpie, which I always send to the celeb along with the DVD or photo, makes a nice bold signature on the outer plastic cover of the DVD.

I wouldnt have sent an unopened one, as those plastic sleeves can be removed. Not that you would on purpose, but it's possible that something could happen, you know? I've also found that they tend to be loose on occasion. If its your preference then great, but I wouldnt.
I have previously sent DVD inserts of Takin Over The Asylum & Casanova to David Tennant (when he was in theatre) and was delighted when they came back signed & personalised.

Interesting topic!
I have the following in my collection:
1) "Frosty the Snowman" DVD cover signed by June Foray
2) "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "The Sandlot" DVD inserts signed by Karen Allen
3) "The Apple Dumpling Gang" DVD insert signed by Tim Conway
4) "The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again" DVD insert signed by Tim Conway and Harry Morgan
By the way, if you should receive your "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" DVD back from Mr. Wilder (unsigned or not), I suggest you send it to Peter Ostrum (Charlie Bucket). I found an address for him a few years back and now have a great movie still signed by him.

I agree with Osiris on that point, I'd send the sleeve of the DVD to be signed.osiris wrote:I wouldnt have sent an unopened one, as those plastic sleeves can be removed. Are you speaking of the outer "wrapper" or the outer plastic sheath that the DVD inserts go into? I DO remove the "wrapper." I just don't open those pesky seals around the edges and remove the paper insert under the plastic sheath. I get the celeb to sign that plastic sheath that's permanently fixed to the entire DVD container. I just wanna make sure we're both on the same page. Thanks for the comments! (BTW, my wife LOVES "Dr. Who" Is Tennant still signing?)osiris wrote:I wouldnt have sent an unopened one, as those plastic sleeves can be removed. I think that you have a great idea. I hope it works for you. I have sometimes sent the insert from a CD (I usually make a color copy to put in the case until it comes back and incase it doesn't) Actually I find that the color copies that I can make at my local library are just as good or better than I can make on my printer, so I send them. Again good luck with your great idea.
