I have the following in my collection:

1) "Frosty the Snowman" DVD cover signed by June Foray
2) "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "The Sandlot" DVD inserts signed by Karen Allen
3) "The Apple Dumpling Gang" DVD insert signed by Tim Conway and Harry Morgan
4) "The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again" DVD insert signed by Tim Conway

By the way, if you should receive your "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" DVD back from Mr. Wilder (unsigned or not), I suggest you send it to Peter Ostrum (Charlie Bucket). I found an address for him a few years back and now have a great movie still signed by him.
HitchcockFan, have you considered sending your Sandlot insert to James Earl Jones? I think that'd be a cool piece... 8)

I have previously sent DVD inserts of Takin Over The Asylum & Casanova to David Tennant (when he was in theatre) and was delighted when they came back signed & personalised.
Are you speaking of the outer "wrapper" or the outer plastic sheath that the DVD inserts go into? I DO remove the "wrapper." I just don't open those pesky seals around the edges and remove the paper insert under the plastic sheath. I get the celeb to sign that plastic sheath that's permanently fixed to the entire DVD container. I just wanna make sure we're both on the same page. Thanks for the comments! (BTW, my wife LOVES "Dr. Who" Is Tennant still signing?)
Forgive me. I thought you were referring to the wrapper. I confess, I've never seen a DVD case that was sealed this way. Obviously they all have plastic covers on over the paper cover, but all mine are easily removable, without any sealing? Opening the case (to remove the cover) doesnt seem to split any factory sealing that you speak of.

And yes, David is still signing, however via his agents address (he's not in theatre at the moment). If you send an SASE he will send a signed Doctor Who postcard. Your wife's name will be added by a secretary, most likely. You'll have more chance getting a 100% authentic sending your own photo, but obviously the wait will be longer :)

osiris,

Thanks. I'm new at this and I was worried for a moment. I ALWAYS frame and mat all my celebrity items using UV protected glass so I guess a sharpie signature on the DVD's plastic cover (under which is the paper cover) will last a lifetime.

Believe it or not, as I was writing out my original post I did think of sending the DVD insert to him. I already have his signature on 3 index cards and a photograph, but I received them TTM almost 4 years ago. I would have no problem sending to him again. I agree, it would be a cool piece. I also began to think about who else from the movie might sign.

DVD cover inserts are brilliant items to send for signing ttm. Not only are they lightweight so keep postage costs down, but the celeb gets to see you have paid money for official product connected with their work, so it is a win/win situation. They can also look great signed.

My favourite to date is my Mr Forbush and the Penguins DVD cover insert which has been autographed by it's four main stars - John Hurt, Hayley Mills, Dudley Sutton, and Tony Britton. All signatures were obtained by individual ttm requests.

I have lost a few DVD cover inserts over the years as not all post comes back, but it's not the end of the world, and worth a shot from time to time. :)
