Fidel Castro Does Not Send to Americans

Unread post by Andy123 »

Looking through the feedback of Fidel Castro, it seems that the people that received no reply back from him are Americans, and the people that atleast got a letter are from a different country. I wrote to him a while ago, saying that if restrictions were lifted I might want to go to Cuba one day, and that we should work towards getting the travel restrictions lifted. I also requested an autograph (that was my main purpose of writing) and I never received even a letter back.

I don't know if it is the same with Raul.

I wonder if all the letters are in an archive somewhere? :roll:

I'm not .. surprised AT ALL by this - he/staff hates America??????

Also: did you send it USPS? I don't even think you can send mail to Cuba? Or am I making this up?

But it would be interesting to see if they kept all his letters he received like they did for Hitler. While I don't necessarily see point of requesting his autograph (besides for value / historical purposes), because it is almost calling him a good man, it is SHOCKING to see all the people that wrote to those type of men!

Well, I believe you are a bit wrong on this. He DOES send to Americans. I've seen a few successes on Movieeye from the U.S. and even one on here, (viewtopic.php?t=81204). They are all over a year old, but maybe now he stopped signing for Americans or maybe just sends to a select few. I have no idea about now...but just pointing it out that he has sent to Americans in the past. {thumb2}

The only reason I wanted his autograph was for the historical (as well as monetary) value. I also do wish that Cuba would be more open for travel. I think that it is probably a beautiful country, and I think that the people most hurt by restrictions are the cuban citizens.

ETA: I do not see them making a book out of the letters to Castro. Even though he may not be good, he is still not on the same scale as Hitler. Also, I don't think that many people write to Castro. He is kind of boring.

Haha Agreed.

When I was in Jamiaca about a year ago, a family of Cubans were not thrilled with me! I'm not usually one to be speculative/whatever of that, but the one kid attempted to trip me with a chair! What a joke. I'm sure the Cubans are still bitter at the Americans for "what we put them through" / aka they went around our backs and sided with the enemies - they unfortunately got what they had coming. (Sorry to any Cubans on this board!! It's not you - it's your gov.!)

I wrote to him a few years ago and got no reply. I tried a different angle and talked about his baseball career. He was a top-flight player in the early 1950's, and scouted by a few major league teams. He was even given a try-out by the Washington Senators.
