So how do you write your request letters?
I'm just curious.
And what type of SASE do you use/what do you put them in?
EDIT: Just realized this should be in Collecting Help

Re: So how do you write your request letters?
My request letters are pretty short. I mention how I'm a fan and that I like their character in "Insert Project here". Then I request the autograph and wish them luck on future projects. I type my letters since it's easier than handwriting them. I use 9x12 manilla envelopes for the requests and SASE's. I stamp Do Not Bend on all sides and I have my own address labels that I can stick on.
Re: So how do you write your request letters?
I usually write about a page to a page and a half. I start out saying my name and why I'm writing them. That I admire their work in (film, television, music etc). I might throw in how their work has personally affected me and then I close the letter. I take my letter, any photos I'm sending and a 9X12 SASE that is prestuffed with cardboard (I just cut file folders in half and use that) and then paper clip it all together and put it in a 10X15 envelope. A 9X12 envelope will fit perfectly in a 10X15 envelope. I then seal it all up and write DO NOT BEND at the bottom of the envelope.
On my SASE I always write the celebs initials, so when I get it back I know who it's from.

Hey NickButler! First off, I really like your Avatar of Billy Mays!
It's a shame that I never got to write to him before he passed away.
As to your question, 90% of the time I use #10 business envelopes since I send my own items which are generally 4x6 sizes. if your requesting a 8x10 photo it's best to send a 9x12 SASE.
And yes you do put your letter in the envelope. but the not the SASE one, just the main mailing envelope. {thumb2}
Hope this helps ya!

I never wrote to him either. His address was bookmarked on my PC too, and I was literally about to write to him.
And thanks
And thanks

That's pretty much how I write my request letters too.pizzamonster555 wrote:My request letters are pretty short. I mention how I'm a fan and that I like their character in "Insert Project here". Then I request the autograph and wish them luck on future projects.
I send 4x6 or 5x7 photos, since they're easier to get inside the mailbox.

Re: So how do you write your request letters?
hey there i just put things about myself like my hobbies and what types of music i like and things like i also tell what i look like. then i type my letters my writing is so bad. but then for the yellow envlopes i used a 9 12 size then i find a photo that i like and then i put a other envlope in there with two labes and two stamps. i also like to put stickers on my envlopes to make them stand out more.

Re: So how do you write your request letters?
hey NickButler!
i wouldn't call myself a "reliable question answerer" since i have yet to receive an autograph, but i've been asking around for answers to my silly questions, and, i just like to help people whenever
From what i've learned, you want to keep your letters kind of short, the longest being one page front and back. And most people write them for the more personal feel, but if your handwriting isn't the easiest to read, you'd probably want to type it.. and i've been told to write about yourself. like your hobbies, your favorite music, bands, books, movies, anything pretaining to who you are writing. And if they are, say, an actor, tell them your favorite movie, or character that they portray..
i went to walgreens, not only because i can be cheap, but they have really, really cheap quality folders that i have learned are perfect for sending pics. I got 10 x 13's, 9 x 12's and 6 x 9's.. they fit well inside each other. I also got a 6 x 9 writing tablet for my request letters as well as index cards.. i also heard using cardboard or cut file folders keep pictures from bending..
basically, for the SASE, or SAE, they should be whatever envelope size your items fit in, and for the regular envelope for the pics, letter, SASE, and whatever else you send, should be a size bigger..
hope this helps a little, at least.. probably just a repeat, but at least you have the info
