It depends on the size and weight.

I can send a letter, 9X12 SASE in a 6X9 envelope and it only weighs one ounce: which is 0.98 in stamps

But if it is bigger, say 9x12 in a 9X12, it will be at least 1.24 in stamps

Let me know exactly what you are sending and I can help more if you need.

I've had A4 hard backed envelopes containing 2x A4 pictures sent back to me (UK) from as little as $2 right up to $3.20. It seems to me anyway, that from New York the price is consistently in the $2.40 area. I even had 2 photos and a playbill for that price when the same cost over $3 from Boston.

Or you could just take it to the Post Office and have it weighed.

There SHOULDN'T be a difference if it is mailed in New York or Boston: it is the same price for anywere in the US. It all depends on the weight and size.

There are other "add-ins" that can be included (it is supposed to cost extra if it is unbendable but I don't usually pay the extra) which would raise the cost as well.

It's the same in the UK. I've had indentical envelopes sent from different Post Offices and they have cost different prices. All I can think of is sometimes the scales aren't quite right or I've been unlucky and the worker has lent on the scales and boosted the cost.
