Great Success!

Uggh. I didn't know Orlando Jones was in this. I would have sent something. Was this like a one week only show? Or are they travelling??

At the City Center, during the course of the year they usually do about four shows -- which are usually done with as minimalist as a set as possible, often not using whigs/etc. They only go for about a month MAX, and then they usually have an option to transfer if reviews are good. Most usually go for a weekend or two however. However, the 'Wiz''s were NOT so favorable, from what I heard, most particularly from Ashanti..whose acting was not up to standards (but singing was apparently incredible).
These shows are called: "City Center: Encores!"
Past City Center productions include: February 5-8, The Music in the Air: starring Douglas Sills (
Last summer was Damn Yankees with Jane Krakowski as Lola, and Cheyenne Jackson in the main male role (I forget the name!).
And of course, the last City Center Encores! production to transfer was from July 2007 - PATTI LuPONE in Gypsy, which played just short of a year on Broadway with the same company from March 08 - January 09.
Nice success by the way!
