Brooke Shields post cards from 1981

Unread post by wellthought »

I wrote about this in a prior post. Things have changed since my last post.

Back in 1981, I wrote to Brooke Shields' fan mail address twice. I got back a post card each time. About a week ago, I sent both to PSA/DNA for authentication and they said they were not authentic. The writing and the signatures themselves look EXACTLY like Brooke's handwriting. Were autopens used back then? What is your opinion?

Here are the postcards:

Many thanks for any comments.

I got her autograph recently. But how do you get autographs DNA tested?!

It's not DNA tested. It's authenticated by the PSA company and then a synthetic microscopic strand of DNA is invisibly marked on the item for positive identification. The company is called "PSA" and is often referred to as "PSA/DNA."

I thought it was well known or at least I thought it was that Brooke Shields autographs thru the mail were secretarial so it's no surprise, I haven't looked but I'm sure www.autographworld.com will have an In person signature of hers in their authentication guide to compare.

These post cards with autograph were gotten in 1981, 28 years ago, when Brooke was very young. The signatures look just like hers, line for line, loop for loop, if you look at a KNOWN real Brooke Shields autograph. I'm puzzled as to why PSA turned these down. It's obvious they were not autopen'd because the size of the autographs are very different. Even if they were secretarial, why would they say, "Sorry I can't write..." instead of something like "Best wishes" or "All the best" or some other well known little one liner?

Wow, her signature hasn't changed one bit in 28 years! Crazy...

She's on my pending list of celebs to send to. {up}

Does anyone know of some other 3rd party authenticator, other than PSA, that can is trustworthy and ACCURATE for these Brooke Shields inscribed and autographed postcards?

Thanks.

I really don't think there is a good authenticator, it's better finding in person signatures and handwriting and match it up yourself. Certificates of Authentication are a waste of paper most of the time.
