I handwrite my letters - I feel it makes them more personal. Usually, I have to rewrite them six times because I misspell one word.

Re: Handwritten vs Typed
Ok everyone remember the KISS RULE from English?
Keep It Simple Stupid
I keep my typed letter to about a paragraph and hit the high points. I do have a form letter that I use as the basic design for all my letters. I personalize all letters to the individual.
I do not sign them though. I am not that important

Thats good to hear! I, personally, like to really get accross that I am a fan, and what the celeb/their work means to me!Lucas42 wrote:To help people know you're a true fan, it can help to mention a specific part of their performance you liked, for example with an actor, a funny quote, or a favourite scene, something like that. Otherwise you could just be copying down their resume and saying you liked their work in this, that, blah blah.
In my experience, the majority of thancelebrities either sign or don't sign, and it doesn't matter if you type or handwrite your letter. However, the quality of response can depend on that. Since I started really decorating my letters and envelopes, and my sister has been sending character drawings or hand-made bracelets along, we've started getting not only the autographs which everyone gets, but more half of the time we receive an extra letter or note in reply to what we've written, even from some big stars. Most of them mention how much they like getting colourful letters, and with my sister being a young child, I think they really like hearing from younger people too.
Re: Handwritten vs Typed
I think handwritten is much better, seems like you've put effort into it and that's not what someone who was sending out about 50 typed requests everyday could do, it takes longer but the end result is a lot more satisfying. I always handwrite letters because for everyday English my spelling is perfect, I just have to concentrate on my handwriting which is joined up and my style of S's don't look like S's so I have to concentrate to make them look like an S.
