went to a book signing at the bookstore (i wanna say it was a barnes and noble) at oglethorpe mall in savannah GA this weekend with my girlfriend (she is a big fan of theirs)... we bought the books on friday and the signing was saturday and was set to start at 7 so we decided we should be at the signing by 515 or 530 as it is in their hometown... when we got there we saw the stage and a small audience area with rows of chairs set up for us to sit in (which was pretty nice so we didnt have to STAND in line the whole time lol)... before the signing we were told that they were only signing their names, no personalizations, and that they would not be taking pictures with anyone. they showed up promptly at 7 and took the stage and did a short q & a... then started signing... they were very gracious with their time and took a few minutes to speak to each person and shake hands... i was inline in front of my girlfriend and when i approached the table bobby reached out for a hand shake and asked me "who would you like this autograph made out to?"so i asked him to sign it to "stephen" and he did... then i told bobby that it was heather's (my gf) birthday and that she is a huge fan and really wants a picture with him (as he is her favorite of the two) and he said "sure, i would love to do that, let me get jamie" so he got his brother to pose also and the picture came out great! and of course they signed and personalized her book as well!
very very nice guys!
on a less pleasant but related note tho we went to the paula deen store (beside their resturaunt "lady and sons" where we ate and it was great!) and they had a ton of signed books on shelves and tables... i showed them to heather and she grabbed one to buy to take back to her mom... meanwhile i checked out a few of the autographs... and sure enough they were fake... some were autopen and some where stamped but none of the 30 or 40 books i looked at that were "signed by paula" were real... it looked like they had autopen patterns that siad both "best dishes paula deen" and another that said "paula h deen" and they had a stamp that said happy cooking paula deen" and they all had smiley faces... they did have a table full of the deen brothers' new book "take it easy" that seemed to be authentically signed by bobby and jamie...
the ap books in her store make me wonder about her ttms too
deen brothers(paulas sons)signing and paula sells ap books
