I'm 23, but I hardly consider myself as an adult

Lol I got ID'd in a store too. I was buying a pair of scissors from Ryman. Here in the UK you have to be 16 to buy sharp objects like knives & scissors etc. I was 22 at the time and didn't have ID so I had to put the scissors backdfreely wrote:Ditto. I'm 24 and I still get asked for ID when I buy lottery tickets or alcohol. A couple of years ago, I was even asked for my age my a store guard during the first day of school.. apparently, there was a problem with lots of kids cutting school.margotchanning wrote:I'm 24![]()
I look a lot younger and I still get ID'd whenever I go out but although I look young, I don't think I act immature............most of the time {thumb2}

I am eighteen so I guess that counts as an adult.

Age has nothing to do with it. Its maturity. Some people have it, some don't. As long as I get into the contact of the people I want to I am happy :razz:

I do believe that there shouldn't be a seperation between the ages.
I just turned seventeen but I have a higher maturity level than most if not all people my age. I hate it. I think we should be able to embrace our age so we can enjoy our lives and not just expect disapointment.
But that goes deeper than this topic board is made for

Re: How many people here are adults?
I used to be one of those kids who thought I was mature for my age.. of course, I would eventually learn that was simply because everyone else was immature, not because I was particularly mature.. most of you will come to the same conclusion when you're older
While age and maturity doesn't necessarily go hand-in-hand, I did make this thread simply to get a general idea of the age scale here, not the "how mature I think I am" scale.

I feel your pain! I got IDd for scissors at 18, which was bad enough. Then at 23 I got IDd for a lottery ticket (age 16 too). She looked at my ID (drivers license!) and went "Oh! Erm. Wow. Sorry." I'm 24 now. Don't you hate it when they go "You'll be thankful for it when you're older!" Yeah. Great.margotchanning wrote: Lol I got ID'd in a store too. I was buying a pair of scissors from Ryman. I guess it is quite lucky to look young but unless you constantly tell people your age, you tend to get spoken down to. I work in an old people's home and relatives of new residents often ask to speak to a "senior" member of staff instead of talking to me. I'm always having to explain that I've been doing the job for nearly a decade and hardly anyone believes meosiris wrote:I feel your pain! I got IDd for scissors at 18, which was bad enough. I'm 15, 3 years off adult.
I like to see all successes, I'm not into Twilight AT ALL. I repeat, at all.
