IRC help

Unread post by Beau »

Hi everybody,

I need some help with a problem. I've been having some problems buying IRC's. I have been to several postal offices, wanting to buy IRC's there, but I always get the same answer. They tell me that they don't exist anymore. At least not overhere. I'm curios if I'm the only one who has this problem?
And now I don't know what to do. If I can't buy them, what do I send with my request instead of IRC's?
I really hate this, my list of " want to write a request to" is getting bigger and bigger. And I'm really looking forward to writing. But know I think I can't.

Can someone help me???

Thanks.

I actually can't find them either and have literally called all of the post offices in my state! I am wondering if I should just resort to international money orders but they are so dang expensive!

I know, I thought about that to.

Just out of curiosity, where are you from? ( Where not from the same country, are we?? )

Hey Beau :D

I had the same problem at a little post office in my area but when I went to the main post office in my nearest town, they sold them there {up}
Not every post office supplies them anymore. Always remember to ask for International Reply Coupons not IRC's ;-)
You can request or see if anyone is selling IRC's on the Autographs For Sale/Exchange fourm.

Hope I have helped {love}

Hi Paigey

Thanks for the tip. Strangly enough even the big post offices here don't sell them. But I'll try your tip

Thanks :mrgreen:

Hi Beau!

I've heard of people having luck getting IRC's by calling the customer service line for USPS (http://www.usps.com/customerservice/wel ... merService). I've never done it myself, so I don't know if they even do this (but doesn't hurt in asking). My post office offered to order IRC's for me if I couldn't find any from the other local post offices. I'm not sure if this is actually something that all post offices can do/will do/are permitted to do. You could always call your local post office and ask.

Hope that helps!

All post offices are able to, because it's up to each individual one what they want to stock their store with. Because of this though, most post offices will choose not to stock IRCs, since it's something very, very few people buy, and they don't want to bother or be stuck with a stock of them.

I live in Alabama, USA!

I actually spoke to a Western Union Rep. today and they told me that their money orders can be cashed worldwide and I think I might start doing that, as they are only like $.95 a piece...

Thanks for all your help. {thumb2}

I give your tips and idea's a try. But I still think it's strange that they've told me that the IRC's don't exist anymore, and I have been to several big offices. I mean, you guys can still buy them right?

Maybe it's just here in The Netherlands. Does that mean that I'm the only Dutch collecter here on FanmailBizz, cause if there are anymore they would have the same problem wouldn't they? And I never heard any1 about it before.

That's great smanzari, I hope that it works for you. {thumb2}

But I have to be honest with, this does take the fun out of collecting a bit for me, I really want to send out many requests, but all the trouble of getting those freaking IRC's. It would be much easier if you could just buy USA stamps, it would be for me anyway.

Anyway, thanks again guys {thumb2}

Not all countries participate in the IRC "system." I don't know, but maybe yours doesn't. That could account for the statement you heard that they don't exist.
