How big a fan is everyone of the celebrities they write to?
I've been wondering about this for some time, especially in the wake of a few other threads around here. What I want to know is, how big a fan is everyone of the celebrities they write to?
Option one is "I write only to celebs I'm a big fan of".
This is basically celebs you've been a big, longstanding fan of - you've seen or heard all (or most) of their movies or albums, you may know their birthday and hometown and what their personality is like, etc.
Option two is "I write to celebs I'm a regular fan of".
This is celebs that you're just a regular fan of. You haven't seen all their work, but you've seen some of it, and you respect their talent. They're not your favorites, but you still like them.
Option three is "I write to celebs I'm a momentary fan of".
This is basically celebs you're a fan of only for a moment - for example, they may have a new movie, album or TV show, and you really like it, even though you don't know about their previous work or they have no previous work. They may be the current "it" person. Even though you're a fan now, you cannot say for certain things will be the same in the future.
Last option is "I write to anyone who's known to respond".
This is basically "I collect for the sake of an autograph". You see a successful feedback post or know that a celeb is good with fanmail, and you want to write too because you know they'll respond even though you're not exactly a fan. You might have heard of them, but you really don't know much if anything about them.
Do note that each option is meant to include all the previous options - for example, picking option two (regular fan of) would naturally mean option one (big fan of) would also be true to you.

Yeah.. you know, I just realize most people who would fall under option #4 (and perhaps even #3) probably wouldn't admit to it.

Im a fan of the people I send to. I don't think I would ever send to someone just because they send or becaue there popular.

For me personally, I think you should be a fan of the artist. If your not, you are just wasting their time, and we all know how busy celebrities are.

Most of the people I write to fall under option 1, and others under option 2.
Re: How big a fan is everyone of the celebrities they write to?
1, 2 & 3. Dependant on who we're talking about.
Some people I am huge fans of. David Tennant, for example. Sometimes, I write to people I've only ever seen in one episode of a show I am a big fan of. Never seen anything else of their work, nor am I a big fan, but I adore the show. So the concept for me is... fluid.

I voted for option 1
I am a huge fan of all the celebrities that I write to and wouldn't write to anyone I didn't admire. I would have nothing to say to someone I wasn't a true fan of! Of course there are some celebrities I like more, for example Michelle Rodriguez is my total hero, but I admire the work of James Nesbitt, so I would still put them in the same category!
I admit that there are many soap stars that I have wrote to that I have only seen in that soap, but that's usually because they haven't been in anything else before that! Hollyoaks actors for example. Also, when you watch them on a soap for so long you get to grow with them and develop a connection with their character.

I agree completely with what Hayley said. It's the same for me too.x hayley x wrote:I voted for option 1I am a huge fan of all the celebrities that I write to and wouldn't write to anyone I didn't admire. The lettres I send out belong to the first and the second category. I am a huge fan of several celebs, but a regural fan of lots more - and I admire all of them for different reasons, for their acting/singnig/writing etc talent, personality, for they were in a movie I liked...but I would NEVER send to anyone I don't know just for the sake of the autograph. What value would such an autograph have to me? None.
