Writing to bands ttm/email

Unread post by EhSs01 »

Hello,
I was wondering, if writing to a band or music group ttm (as i'm planning to do shortly), do you literally adress the letter to the name of the band for the autograph, or do you write say to their management and ask them to get an autograph for you or somthing like that? And I assume you just enclose a SAE etc like you do normally for an individual person?
Similarly, when emailing a band (or any person really) with an email address on a management website or somthing like that, again, do you write directly to the band and address it to them, or do you address the management and ask them to get an autograph?
Sorry, lots of questions again!
Thanks ;-)

I write directly to the people. For a group of people like a band I compliment the group and how well they work together, etc. Then I address a line or two to each person in the group.

As for e-mailing: if the address is for the management, I might address it to the management: "Dear sirs, I love the band... etc" but if it is directly to the band, address it to the band.

Hope this helps.

Hi EhSs01!

It usually depends on who I'm writing to. If it's a "fan e-mail" that the band has set up, I'll address the e-mail directly to them. However, if I'm contacting them through their managers e-mail than I address it to the manager and ask how I can go about getting an autograph. Usually I'll write something along the lines of:

Dear " " (if there's a name provided if not I write: To Whom it May Concern)

I was wondering if there was an address that I could reach (celebrity) and request an autograph. I am a huge fan of their work (etc). Thank you so much!

Sincerely,
Annie
(Address)

I've gotten really nice responses from managers/publicists this way. Usually they'll tell me they will pass along the message to the celebrity and get them to autograph a photo for me. Other times, I've just had the manager go ahead and send me the autograph without writing me back.

Hope that helps!

~Annie :)

For vv - I ALWAYS address it to the band.
For emailing management - address it to the management.
For emailing an official site - address it to the recipient.
