There's really no need to roll your eyes. After all, this is the second time you wanted to "agree to disagree" and "end it".

TBH, I'm going to avoid the Swine Flu jab, although they say you should really have it. I'm going to risk it...
Just thank goodness I haven't got it..YET..and I don't want it.

^ I'm not going to have it either. I'm more concerned about how safe the jab is, and how can they have made sure it won't cause any side affects or cause long term damage, than the actual flu itself.
I don't think it's anything to be majorly worried about either. I was when it was first mentioned, but I know of no one who has it, and it seems to me if it's spreading, it's doing so very slowly and you probably have more of a chance getting the regular flu than this one.

Can't say I blame anyone for not trusting the vaccine.. there doesn't seem to be too much evidence on how well it works, and after the case of the paralyzed girl, we know it can have very unwelcome side effects.
It'd still be a good idea to continue regular preventative measures (washing your hands with soap, avoiding contact with people/surfaces when possible, etc) until this all blows over.

Yes, second time. I remember you saying the exact same thing (because I found it rather nice the first time), before you edited your message into something about Smallpox. As a mature human being, you wouldn't have found the need to do that, or roll your eyes when you said it a second time. And I wasn't arguing with you at all.. knowing how irritable some people here can be, I avoid it. At best, it was just a short, small debate.khackdrums wrote: Second time?I'm just saying I respect your opinion, but I just don't agree with it. Yes, I did edit my post, about a minute after I wrote it. You caught me! I thought I would add Smallpox statement to debunk the following argument:
made no sense at all. Sorry if it upset you. I love to debate, but is not the place to do so. It wouldn't be a debate without disagreements.

I had the right to offer my own opinion. I rolled my eyes because your counter argument of:dfreely wrote:And you shouldn't compare it to the Spanish flu, if that were to be the standard, we'd have no other pandemics.
dfreely wrote:If the Spanish flu shouldn't be a standard, why on Earth should Smallpox be? By your logic, we might as well do away with the word pandemic.

Re: WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE SWINE FLU?
Interestingly enough, I wrote that to debunk this:
Of course, I didn't realize that you had misunderstood me, which is why the Smallpox post made no sense to me:
Debates are an exchange of theories and opinions, so there's always going to be a disagreement.. as long as it doesn't escalate.. no worries. Of course, this turned out to be more of a misunderstanding than a debate.
If you read my post correctly, it doesn't state that the Spanish flu should be the standard, but rather why it shouldn't be. This was because you compared the Swine flu to the Spanish flu in order to declassify it as a worldwide pandemic. In counterpoint, I said they shouldn't be compared, and if "the Spanish flu were to be the standard, we'd have no other pandemics". That of course can be considered a bit of an exaggeration, but it acknowledges just how deadly it was, and why it shouldn't be used as a standard to be compared against. It was a lot like saying LeBron James is just a standard basketball player.khackdrums wrote:Pandemic? The pig flu is no 1918 influenza pandemic... It will end just being another global influenza.

From my point of view at the time, it was actually a pretty hilarious statement because it looked like you debunked your own previous statement by making a more ridiculous one.. of course, now I can see why you posted it.khackdrums wrote:The 1918 Spanish Influenza as the standard for pandemics?
