How do you write an LOR to an address that sends preprints?

Unread post by Isaiah »

I am hoping to send a letter to an address that only sends preprints. It's necessary that I do specify that I understand that this person is busy, and will not be able sign authentically, and that I would be happy with a preprint. Judging by other successes from this address, I would only receive a letter of refusal if I did not mention the above. But, how does one go about saying such things? Would most fan mail addresses know what I was talking about if I mentioned a "preprint", or would I have to simplify that for them? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I'd do things the exact same way as a place that sends authentics. If you actually want a reply preprinted...I'd include money, stamps, or a SASE.
don't change anything but include return postage

I'd it's a studio fan mail address. You should only list your adress and the celebyou wish to recieve from.

Well If I know for certain a certain person sends out pre-prints, I won't even bother taking time to send a request. I mean why waste .88 in stamps for a fake? You can just go on google images type in '[Celebs name] Autograph" and find tons of autographed photos to print off on your computer for less. {up} It's pretty much the same thing.

Funny you should ask. It happens to be a pet peeve of mine. The term preprint as used in the autograph hobby is simply bad English that caught on for some reason. The correct term for it is a facsimile autograph.

Here's the definition of facsimile -- An exact copy or reproduction of something such as a document, a coin, or somebody's handwriting.

And here's the definition of preprint -- A draft of a scientific paper that has not yet been published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.

So to answer your question, it depends on how educated the person is who reads your letter.
