Re: Star Wars success

My son and I got our first Star Wars success's today!

John Sylla: sent 9/9/09 recv. 9/21/09

David Ankrum: sent 9/8/09 recv. 9/21/09

and in a odd one we also got back from artist Eric Shanower he signed two index cards and added sketches of Leia and Chewbacca but he also wrote on the cards above the characters "next time you ask for a autograph you should include return postage!" apparently my son didnt put a stamp on the return envelope. It was a honest mistake, I always let him seal the envelopes and add the stamps as he likes to help and he somehow must have missed getting a stamp on that one.

So I sent him another letter explaining what happened along with the sketches back and sent him a brand new stamp to replace the one he used, I also explained that it is a dick move to do that to a little kid! I wont be sharing this experience with my son, I will just let him think that he didnt respond.

Congrats on the success!! I still think you should share the success with your son, I mean it happens to everyone at some time or another. He shouldn't feel bad about it. I will admit it would have be more polite of him to write the note on somethig seperate than the cards, but what's done is done.

I have had some great success the past few weeks

James Earl Jones x 2
Jeremy Bulloch x 3
Brian Blessed x 5 (he included two of them)
Grant Gould signed yoda sketch

and my favorite was John Williams signed Episode 1 CD I got via venue from a concert in california, I was stoked to get this as I had sent to his database addy and got the typical letter saying he has no time to sign and to enjoy the photo they included with my returned item however they didnt include the allready signed photo, only the letter and my unsigned item:( but it all worked out in the end as I got him on what I actually wanted!

Hey

Sorry I haven't posted in a long time. I started sending you custom photo signature cards. I'm no graphic artist but im actually kind of proud of them. They are based on the original Kenner action figure card backs.

Ive posted photos of the ones I've gotten back so far on Flicker.

here is the link...

id love to hear what everyone thinks of them.

Thank you very much. i just used microsoft word lol

i really like the combo ones too. i have one of James Earl Jones/ Dave Prowse, that i just sent to Mr. Jones. I made one of Fosesinbeed Annodue with both Scott Capurro and Greg Proops (waiting to get it back from Mr. Capurro)

I am just doing actors/actresses right now, but will do production people too eventually. for those i was thinking of using the movie poster for the movie they worked on as the photo.

i HATE paying for signatures, but will pay to get Prowse when i get the Vader combo card back from James Earl Jones.

No way, Microsoft word is all you use?!?!?! I was thinking along the lines of Adobe Illustrator. I'm really impressed now! Where do you ge the photos you use? Screen grabs off the DVD's?

I know I sent Dave a request in 2007 and included some photos and $5.00. He kept the $5.00 and returned my photos unsigned along with a note asking for more money. A little while later my grandpa met him In-person and got a picture taken with him but no autographs, So I mailed Dave a copy of the photo along with one of my custom ones and that time he happily signed for me. :D

Best of luck with your request!!
