Re: Personalized or Not?
Personalized, definitely! A signiture is nice, but when it is personalized you just sort of think to yourself: Wow! ___ actually wrote my name especially for me - and it is instantly very precious.

Re: Personalized or Not?
I prefer personalized as I don't intend on selling any of the ones I've gotten.
Besides, It's kinda neat to think that if it was even for a minute or so, at one time I was the singular most important thing on the celeb's mind.

Re: Personalized or Not?
Hi,
Very interesting responces, and it seems most prefer personalized and I agree it seems that the celebrity has spent more time reading your letter, you feel the photo belongs to you.
To me it very much depends on the star.
For instance if you have it personalized from Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt the changes are thet DID NOT sign it or read you letter.
The older stars usually sign themselves, so if personalized feels better.
I have received photos, with the signature in one color pen and my name in another, which means the agent has added my name.
So I think it depends on also who your favorites are and also whether you intend to sell or keep, although many photos are sold that are still personalized.
I also keep at least one photo of every star I write to and sell others if I have 3-4 , which I often do of many celebrities.
Today Nell McAndrew replied to me and actually added on one of the photos, get well soon(just had ankle surgery) so I know she read my letter, which was great.
kind regards

Re: Personalized or Not?
Honestly I get a lot of sports and wrestling in person and on cards so I prefer not personalized mainly cause it takes up a lot of room on a small card but for a pic or magazine or anything else Id like them personalized (haha unless I can get more then one then one personalized and one not so I have something to trade with you fine folks
)

Re: Personalized or Not?
Personalized, it just feels special to the fact they took time to ackwoledge you.
But whats even more special is when they write a little note or fill out your Q & A

Re: Personalized or Not?
I think both
Personalized on:
-index cards
-pictures
-custom made cards
-paper
Not personalized on:
-CD/DVD covers
-trading cards (baseball, football, soccar, basketball etc.)

Re: Personalized or Not?
I'm obviously in the minority here; I prefer non-personalized. I mainly get LPs signed and they usually have covers that appeal to me aesthetically before I get them signed and too often artists write goofy stuff like "keep rocking" when they personalize them. I also like my signed items to have broad appeal, not just appeal to me.

Re: Personalized or Not?
DEFINATELY personalised.... the more spontaneous input the better. Unless it has some personal salience it just feels like a squiggle on a photo... (although that's not to say I don't get a kick from an auto if I love the star!).

Re: Personalized or Not?
I think a personalized autograph is much more special than just a signature.
