I sent a letter, photo, and sase to Paul at jobing.com arena last week for his sunday night show. I received the unsigned photo back with a mass-produced letter saying that Paul receives too many of these requests and is too busy so he will not be signing anything on this tour or any others.
The one good thing is that it said "any others" so he must be planning to continue touring! Everytime he starts a tour, rumors start that it will be his last.

Re: Paul McCartney failure
So very glad now that I wasn't in time to send out my request to the Hollywood Bowl.
It's a shame though, Macca's one of my most wanted

Re: Paul McCartney failure
Man... I sent a request to the Hollywood Bowl. Guess I'll probably be getting one of those too.
Shame though, he's a brilliant musician, I'd love to have his autograph.

I can't really blame him though. He's been doing this for 50 years now, he's probably signed his name a hundred thousand times. That would get really old.
Imagine getting 300 letters a day asking for an autograph, there's just no way anyone could keep up with that. It'd be one thing if he was retired and sitting around doing nothing but he's touring, cutting albums, he has a family to spend time with, he flies around doing promotions, he has to put up with everyone always requesting meet n greets or asking him for charity stuff. I'm just happy I was able to see him play live!
