MARK HAMILL (STAR WARS) - great success

Unread post by Bria »

Hello there,

Last month, Mark Hamill was in France for the french Jules Verne festival in Paris. It was in april, the 23th.
As I'm a HUGE fan of Star Wars, I HAD to go ! :D

Before the red carpet, he was doing an autographe session to promote collector stamps (for the 30th anniversary of the Empire Strikes Back). Of course, it wasn't free, we had to pay 35€ (+/- 43$) to get the stamps and ask for an autographe. But knowing the price of Mark Hamill's auto in convention (mostly, never less than 100$) my friends and I thought it worths it. Also because Mark Hamill never comes in France usually, so...

That's inside the place were the autographe session took place

But because of the traffic jams on the road, we arrived later than what we expected, and there was allready a lot of people. But not that much (200, 300 maybe, don't know exactly), and as the website said "no personalized autographes, no pictures, about 30 seconds per person" we thought it will be ok, and were pretty confident about getting his autographe.
But Mark Hamill did personalized autographes, took pictures with almost everyone, and take the time to speak to them...so, half ot the people waiting didn't get their autographe (including me and my friends), because at a moment, he had to leave for an interview...

So we went at the Grand Rex for the red carpet and waited until the evening.

And there, it was amazing !! There was Star Wars music, and Darth Vader, C3PO, R2D2 and many stormtroopers on the red carpet !!

And finally, Mark Hamill arrived. And he was awesome, and so nice !! He signed autographes for everybody !! Also took pictures with everyone asking (I did of course) :D
I never thought I would meet "Luke Skywalker" one day...it was so magic meeting him.

I was able to get two autographes. Unfortunately he signed with a silver pen and it was starting to fade on the second picture, but I protected it since.

Congrats on getting Mark!
You see sometimes when the situation looks bad it all works out for the better. By getting stuck in traffic and not getting Mark at the original signing you saved the money by not paying for the autograph. I too saved the fee when Mark appeared out here for a Comedy Shorts Film Festival in Los Angeles a month back. I almost missed him but someone pointed out the car he drove in and I got him to sign two photos I had in the parking lot. I know sometimes he's weird on signing Star Wars items so one was Star Wars and the other was from a film called Corvette Summer.

Exactly !! I was so frustrated when they said "no more signatures from Mark Hamill", after having waiting hours for nothing...and, as I said, Star Wars has been part of my life since always, so I wanted so much to meet him...
But then, everything was so great on the red carpet, with the songs, all the stormtroopers, and Mark Hamill signing for everyone !
I had two autographes for free, and was finally happy to have been stuck in the traffic jams on the road !
