What are my chances???

Unread post by ranrtt »

Man, after reading some of the comments on here, I'm surprised people get anything back. I have about 70 requests out right now, and the good news is that only about five or six of them are people on the list that definitely do not sign. I started writing back when I was recovering from surgery, so I wasn't using the site as much as I am now. My question is I have two out that I would really like to get back; one is to the cast of "Chuck" (via Zachary Levi), and the other is to the cast of "The Big Bang Theory" (via Jim Parsons)....now I sent them a bit ago, and now that both shows are finished (at least their both coming back)...I wanted peoples' opinions on what the odds are I might get them back? I would love to have both signed by as many of the cast members as possible, but I wouldn't mind if they come back signed by someone at this point. I also sent out to Kaley Cuoco individually, and haven't heard from her either. Just wanted some thoughts and ideas. Also, someone should put together a list of people who sign quite frequently (like Leah Remini).

Zachary Levi is pretty good at replying, he just takes a while. Ive never seen anything from anyone on the Big Bang theory except Kaley Cuoco. Ive also sent to Jim Parsons, but I doubt Ill get a reply

How did you send the cast requests? You may have better luck just sending letters individually to each member of the cast that you want. If you sent a cast request to those people via their agency, I wouldn't count on getting the whole cast back. Sometimes the agencies forward mail to actor in a whole other location; they may not even get your letter until after filming. The best thing to do would be find the production office of the show you want the cast to sign, and send via venue. Of course, you would send to them while they are filming.

It seems like the average response takes 4 or 5 months. Some take a year, and I've even seen successes on here that have taken two years. It all depends on when the person gets the mail from their agent or manager or when their agent or manager passes it on to them, and also when they get around to going through all that mail.

I sent to the addresses where the two shows were filming. I was thinking of sending to each individual cast member, and I may still do that if this doesn't work out. The reason I sent it that way was because the pics I sent were really nice group shots (probably seen em on internet, Big Bang they are all dressed up, and Chuck is set up like a comic book/movie poster with almost the entire cast on it) I figured I had a better shot if I sent it to one person, and then they can decide to let everyone else sign or not. I wasn't really sure how to go about that, because from what I've read on here, it seems if you send it via the entire cast it seems to get ignored more often than not. But like you suggested I could do the entire cast separately if this doesn't work. I did that for Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning on the pics from "The Runaways" movie.

ranrtt,

I do a lot of cast photos. I find the best way is to send out blank 3x5 cards or make custom cards and then matte them together. I also have been lucky to find some cast signed photos and them mount them with custom cards for the people who did not sign the photo.

For example. I was lucky to get a cast signed "Chuck" poster from Comic Con. I then added my custom cards of the other cast members

Here is an example from "The Mentalist". I got Simon Baker to sign a photo. Then matted it with custom cards I made that I got signed by the cast.

On a side note. Sometimes writing to a new show before it gets popular helps also. I wrote to both ER and X-Files right when they came out. I think I just asked for a cast photo (this was before Google was around (early 90's) to find pictures). I got a cast signed ER photo by the original 6 cast (incl.Clooney) and I got a signed photo from X-Files signed by Anderson and Duchovny. So sometimes you can get lucky.

^ Those are awesome. Do you frame everything yourself or do you have it done somewhere?

I've always wanted to do something like this but I don't have the expertise.

I measure & cut the matte and then frame it myself. Much cheaper that way.

Those pictures are really nice....I would think about doing something like that if I can get some stuff back signed. Then I can go back and start working on the others. I agree with you in writing a show before it becomes popular, but unfortunately, I sometimes like shows that aren't around too long either. Anyway, thanks for the advice...and its always nice to start with something like the Comic Con, which I might have to do sometime. The last post said Kaley might be sfm.....I have no idea what that is? A little help!!
