Well, I'm kind of disappointed in this result. I read about you guys getting Dick Ayers sketches by sending him $10 with your request. Well, I'd be more than willing to pay $20 for a head sketch from him so I included $20 with my request. I thought I might get a slightly more detailed sketch, but I would have been happy with any kind of sketch at all. I didn't send anything to be signed, I only sent a piece of sketch paper, $20 and a polite letter of request.
When I got my envelope back and opened it, I was very excited to see a full-figure colored sketch of the Human Torch. However, upon closer inspection I saw that it was in fact a print that Mr. Ayers had signed. Perhaps he thought that this was more valuable than a head sketch so he sent it instead? Personally, I would have rather had a quickie head sketch. Oh well, it's better than nothing. Here's a scan.
Got a respond from Dan Davis today. Sent about 1 week ago.
Got a Signed Scooby Doo pic and a letter saying he was to busy to do a sketch and that he was including the signed print. The address is listed on his website.
I will NOT PM you an address. I will assist you in getting said address. IE: give you pointers on where to get it.
I got to meet Todd McFarlane at the Phoenix Comicon over Memorial Day weekend. He signed my Amazing Spider-Man #300 and Spawn #1. So excited! I also had a nice chat with him about my Marvel Villains T-shirt, which he said he loved.
I already posted about the Stan Lee autograph line in another thread. While it was nice to get some stuff signed, I had hoped for a more personal experience.
I've never tried getting any comics folks through the mail; the only autographs I have were from attending cons:
John Byrne -- Fantastic Four 247 (my favorite Dr. Doom cover; Batman and Captain America; Darkseid vs. Galactus
Art Adams -- Creature from the Black Lagoon movie adaptation
Peter David -- Hulk/Hercules
Mark Waid -- Kingdom Come 1-4
Jeff Smith -- Bone Vol. 1 (also sketched a little Bone saying "hi" on the inside cover)
Stan Lee -- Spider-Man poster from the 90s; Essential Amazing Spider-Man vol. 1
2014 Successes: Tom Baker, Patrick Stewart (vv), Peter Cullen, Robin Atkin Downes, Jenna-Louise Coleman, Trace Beaulieu, George Lowe, Joe Dante, Willem Dafoe, Jeffrey Brown, Maurice LaMarche, Alan Oppenheimer, Penn & Teller (last success 10/14/14)
Since I posted my Bart Sears return I have be set upon by numerous people wanting his address. I will show everyone here how I find addresses like Bart Sears...
I went to google.com and entered "Bart Sears". I found out he now works for Heatwave Interactive Inc. in Texas. I went back to google and entered "Heatwave Interactive Inc." and found the website. In the website I found the address. I wrote to Mr Sears c/o the company and got an autograph.
It is the same way I found the contact info for Andy Smith...
not to sound snippy here but you didn't tell us where you got the info, you just posted a success and pretty much that was it. Unless duly noted I post the address, or if gotten at a con or via ebay. If it's a private address I atleast give a little information to help. I gather that IS the purpose of this thread to help fans. I appreciate the need for you to walk us step by step with how you searched it but a little less....snarkiness might help in the long run.
Either way, thanks for the info, I have been wanting Bart's autograph since his JLE days.
Scifi, comic books and a few other areas are my interests in autograph collecting. If you want to talk feel free to pm me.
