What got you started in autograph collecting?

I'm just curious as to why everyone started collecting! I started to get a gift for a friend and thought it could be a fun hobby!

I actually started after I found this site. I'd gotten a few autographs beforehand from conventions and things, but I started TTM collecting when I just typed 'Edward Hardwicke fanmail' into Google, and found this site, haha.

I got started doing this is a weird way. Mike Swick, MMA fighter, was playing a tournament on Full Tilt Poker and I happened to be at his table for most of his time in the tournament. We were talking about poker, MMA and a lot of other things. I asked him politely if I could have an autograph of him. He said yes and gave me an address to send to. I forgot to write it down. When I got knocked out, I deleted the screen not realizing I did that. Ten minutes later I go back online, and go to google. I typed in Mike Swick fan mail address and happened to come across this site. The address on there happened to be the same one he gave me so I wrote it down this time haha. I looked around and it was pretty cool so I gave it a try and have gotten a lot of great stuff from it!

When my grandpa died in 2004, I felt the need to do some sort of hobby so I wouldn't dwell on my grandpas death. I found a book with celebrity address, in them, and just started writing to my favorite stars.. The hobby really intrigued me, now 1,000 autographs later, Im proud to say that Im still going strong!

What I love about this hobby is that getting started in it is different for pretty much anyone! I love it

Well one of my friends got a David Tennant autograph and then I tried to get one and then I realised that I wanted other people's autographs and then it developed into a hobby from there.

I started out back in 1999. i wanted to have a few autographs from the cast in the then soap opera " sunset Beach".

so I went online to look around how I could find and adress and when I found it I sent a few letters away.

However I had no clue about sending a sase back then but I was lucky to get a few replies back anyway and from there I went forward with my collecting, but it goes in periods.

sometimes I collect more and sometimes less.

I started in 2006-2007 writing to Daniel Radcliffe. I had no idea that you could get autographs from writing letters, so I was very suprised when a large envelope showed up at my doorstep!

I discovered this site early this year and decided I wanted to collect them. So far, 14 autographs(11 of them Playbills!) I've gotten through the mail and it's always fun to write and stick the stamp on them:)

I was on one of my favourite band's website and clicked on the contact page and there was an email a I thought I wonder if I can get a request through emailing them (I didn't) then about a day later I found this site ... and now i love collecting 'em
