Silver paint pen help? (Autograph rubbing away)

I got an autograph today but it was signed using silver paint pen but when I took it out the envelope half of it had rubbed away on the back of the board stiffner, now whenever I touch it more parts of it are coming off, any ideas how I can preserve it until I get round to putting it in an album? Thanks

Neither the silver(gold) paint pen or silver sharpie adhere well to inkjet printouts. Those only work well on are professionally printed items and photographs because they can absorb into the paper and will dry. The ones that I have received on my printouts all have this problem and I just put them into the clear sleeves and into an album, ..... I try not to handle them anymore. I try to send as light a photo printout as possible to encourage the signer to use a black or blue sharpie, otherwise I will purchase a lab quality photo when the image I want signed is dark and would look well with the metallic pens.

Yeah i hate that so much,I do the same thing as arrowsup i send light pictures or half pictures where half of the photo is just plain white to encourage people to not use silver,90% use black,red or blue so it stands out on the white but a few have signed in the silver that rubs off & it is dissapointing. The only thing i find you can do is frame the picture in amatted frame so the autograph isnt touching anything and then it doesn't rub off anymore but you can never remove it but its that or have it all rub off... :neutral:

Sometimes those paint pens are a problem. I got a comic signed at a con over Memorial Day weekend with a black paint pen, and now parts of the signature are stuck to the comic bag I put it in.

Until you can sort something more permanent by way of storage, spraying it with fixative or hairspray should protect it a little more.

I had that same problem with my first band via venue success- Theory of a Deadman. I got advice from someone on here, and I sprayed it with hairspray like osiris mentioned...its worked wonderfully for me and have had no more problems with the sig rubbing off more. Its in its own plastic page in one of my binders.
