There's a difference between tossing junkmail and something that a fan sent you because they admire and appreciate you. Only real a**holes do something like that.
You do realize this isn't 1980 when all the world was hunky dory... We've got psychos sending Anthrax to enemies, news anchors, etc...
Plus, how can they tell your a "real fan." Anyone can write a letter telling any talent how much they admire them just by looking up their Wikipedia.
Fact of the matter is, when the postman takes that letter out of your box, it's out of your hands then. Be thankful for what you get and accept what you didn't. It happens.
No, and that's understandable but when people are getting back responses with a flyer that list his prices for signing the argument that he's tossing it because of the psychos in the world doesn't hold any water. Regardless of it's someone who's a 'real fan' or just someone scheming for autographs, if others are receiving a response from the guy be it a price list or the autograph they were seeking it goes to show that he's not tossing the stuff.
If you read, I did say it was possible that it got lost in the mail, I'm not entirely dismissing that and I totally understand that possibility, but I honestly wouldn't bet on it. I know it's a game of roulette (no pun intended) when sending out requests, but when it comes to things like that and a guy who's days in the spotlight was back then where they didn't get much of the stuff that featured them, it wouldn't surprise me if he kept it for himself.
I accept that I lost it, I've received items signed by wrestlers that I treasure much more than I would a One Man Gang autograph, but it's the principle of it all. It's not like I didn't provide proper shipping, and not once, but twice I sent a follow-up lor apologizing for not including the fee he charges along with the $15 for his autograph and in-detail describing which request was mine, and still never received so much as an RTS on either of those letters or the book unsigned. I accepted that and I learned my lesson about sending out rare pieces, I just wanted to share my experience so that anyone else who's thinking of sending something that they treasure or don't want to lose out to him will be more careful in adding tracking on their request.
chriscollector wrote:OMG charges, simple as that. If you write again, tell him who you are and what you sent with the $10 he charges I would be willing to bet you get that book back. If I were you and saw him somewhere I would be the first person in line asking him where my book is and why he didn't have the decency to use the sase and send back my stuff with a price list or RTS the package. He's just money hungry and riding the coat tails of 80's wrestling to make some money.
However with TTH nothing is guaranteed. I would never send an item signed by a deceased person unless i previously send a letter explaing the situation adn get a reply that it IS ok to send it their way.
Another thing, if you didn't track it there is no way to know if it got lost along the way.
I infact did send him a letter asking for the book back as well as sending extra money for postage, twice at that, and never saw anything from him. He's the reason I stopped sending stuff like that out, I'd been burned in the past before with losing books and magazines that were treasured pieces in my collection, but that one was the one that really hurt losing. I've since resorted to just sending out trading cards that I am sure to have easy access to if I don't get them back if I don't already have an extra copy of.
Also, I'd just like to point this out as it does sort of pertain to the subject at had that we're discussing. It also goes to show the character of Elijah Burke\Pope\whatever you wanna call him. I know that several have received a success from him, and this really should build up the confidence in anyone looking to send out to him.
Q: What makes you become mad or angry?
A: When Pope see works or gifts from fans to superstars that are left back stage or right out thrown into the trash.
Knowing that some have spent their hard earned cash or have put time and effort to think enough of a superstar and bring a gift of sorts to show their appreciation, only to have it treated like garbage saddens/angers Pope. I can’t grasp the reason why some are ungrateful, when it’s YOU the fans who make us who we are. I remember a couple of years ago there was a fan that brought a nice piece of art work that was TRULY REMARKABLE to a very high esteemed superstar. I saw this gift brought back week after week with the crew as the superstar showed no interest in wanting it. After a while, I flat out asked about the status of this remarkable art work, in which I was informed to just take it because it was trash. WOW!!! I couldn’t believe it. There’s NO WAY I was going to let work be destroyed or forgotten. Today, that piece of art is with other pieces of Pope’s prized possessions
