Sending to people with no feedback?

Unread post by Shiva »

So, I have an actress I want to send a request to. She has no feedback so I don't know if she responds. I did buy a picture off ebay but I really don't want to risk losing the picture if she doesn't respond and it doesn't get sent back or if it doesn't get there or get returned to me for some reason.

Would you risk it if you were me?

I have sent requests to actors with no feedback before, but I haven't sent a picture so it wasn't much of a loss if I didn't get anything back.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks.

I have took a few chances on people who don't have any feedback. The way I see it is I got an average of $3.75 or so in the request, if I don't get it back it's not too big of a deal, if I get it back then I'm happier than a fanboy the day The Dark Knight was released.

You could print off a different pic, or scan that one and make another copy to send.

Depends who it is, if it's somebody mega-super-duper-famous I'd do some research on other sites about whether they send secretarials or pp's, it's not always obvious even from successes on here whether 'successes' from huge stars are likely to be genuinely signed by them.

I've sent to loads of people with no feedback on here, and have had some great successes, including a handwritten note from a very famous actress the other day. Because I get 8x6 pictures printed at our local big supermarket at 25p a shot I don't really get that stressed if some go missing. If in doubt I'd do what DarbyD53 suggests and get another picture printed which you're not emotionally attached to and then cross your fingers, or send it and forget it until the happy day it comes back.

If you get a success, you could always wait a few months and then write another letter thanking them for signing the last one and could you be really cheeky and ask them to sign this one... etc. etc.

good luck

I know this isn't the most cost effective way - it really depends on how cheap you can find it to get photos printed. WHy not scan a copy of the photograph you bought and get it redeveloped, so just in case you don't get it back you can reprint the picture.

Thanks for all the replies. I know I can find a good photo of her online, so I could see if I could blow one up and get it to look good. I believe my printer is actually a photo printer as well as a normal printer, or a printer that's good for printing photos too. I've had it for a couple years, never used it and don't have my user manual anymore so I don't know for sure. But once I get more ink(I never used it but someone I lived with for a while did) I can try it. If it works I can send one of them out and see if I get it back, then I'll still have the one I bought if I don't get it back.

Anyone have any tips for printing photos? Does the ink dry well? The only photos I've ever printed were on normal paper, not photo paper so I don't know what to expect.

Maybe you could send blank index cards? They're cheap, $.88 both ways and you can frame them with the 8x10.

You could also do 4x6 photos. I signed up with snapfish and almost instantly got credit for 20 free 4x6 prints. It takes 2 stamps to send them to someone and only 1 for the return voyage.
2014 Successes:
Tom Baker, Patrick Stewart (vv), Peter Cullen, Robin Atkin Downes, Jenna-Louise Coleman, Trace Beaulieu, George Lowe, Joe Dante, Willem Dafoe, Jeffrey Brown, Maurice LaMarche, Alan Oppenheimer, Penn & Teller (last success 10/14/14)

If people don't send to those with no feedback, this board could die.
