ALL CENTURY CELEBRITY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP LAKE TAHOE

Unread post by bud simpson »

Just got back from a grueling week of autographing. First on the 10th of July I headed to Hollywood Park Race Track to get jockeys Matt Smith and David Flores to sign my Zenyatta bobblehead. I was hoping to get Bo Derek because she has been known to attend the track on special days ( there was a tribute to Lafiet Pincay that day ) but she didn't show.
That same day I also messed with the Exxxotica LA Covention. Porno autographs are not my thing BUT my friend is into it so I helped him out. We also messed with the show all day Sunday as well.
Monday was a travel day to Lake Tahoe. Tuesday thru Friday we did the Tahoe Golf Tournament. The tournament does run all the way to Sunday but it is almost impossible to get autographs Friday to Sunday because on actual days of competition you can't get auotgraphs till after the players are finishing golfing. Tuesday thru Thursday are practice days to where they will sign all day. The only reason we stuck a round till Friday was because Michael Jordan said that would be the only day he would sign autographs.
Also the tournament shuns bringing in photo's and other memorbilia. Tuesday thru Thursday security is laux and you could sneak in memorbilia really easy BUT the rest of the time it is impossible. Autographs I was able to get were:

Troy Aikman ( jersey )
Jared Allen ( jersey )
Marcus Allen ( jersey )
Ray Allen ( golf ball painted like a basketball )
Derek Anderson ( jersey )
Ronde Barber ( jersey )
Charles Barkley ( golf ball painted like a basketball )
Jerome Bettis ( jersey )
Oscar De La Hoya ( boxing gloves ) He probably was the nicest one at the tournament. This guy stop to sign and posed
for photo opps at EVERY hole on the course.
John Elway ( jersey )
Marshall Faulk ( jersey )
Jason Kidd ( jersey )
Jerry Rice ( jersey )
Matt Rypien ( jersey )

These are just some of the names I got on larger/unusual items but there were many many more names on the list that I got on photos and golf balls. Just to many to list.
Now about Michael Jordan.....Like I said he didn't sign at all during the practice day's but he said he would sign on Friday.
I knew by then it would be so crowded that the chances of me getting him were slim. Scopping the clubhouse for a couple days and watching specificaly for Jordan, I was able to find out where he sneaks out and what kind of car he came in.
He comes out of the door from the kitchen. I have never gotten Jordan in all my years of collecting so I wanted him bad. I never had done it before but I actually bribed one of the kitchen workers with a twenty to let me stay by the kichen door.
A few other dealers/collectors had the same idea but I was actually inside the kitchen, so I had first crack at asking Michael. As Michael was leaving I asked him to sign my jersey. At first he said no but after begging him and telling him I came all the way from Orange County, which is a 10 hour drive to Tahoe, that I attended the golf tournament since Tuesday and I couldn't afford to come out Friday AND it was my birthday in a couple of days, he finally stopped and signed. I had to show my ID to prove I wasn't lying but it did get my jersey signed. I was the only one he signed for.
Friday, Jordan kept his promise and did sign but there were so many people that you would have been lucky to get an autograph. Also the signature was scribble. The one I got Thirsday was a much nicer!
Oh yeah, the band Rascal Flatts also played in the tournament. I was able to get a whole gutiar signed by the group.
Saturday we left Tahoe and came home.
Like I said it was a longgggggg week of autographing but I think I scored good!
