Sending an autograph request overseas??

Unread post by UnWired_tap »

Hello everyone,

How are you all?

This is my first post but I have been a surfer of fanmail for some time now.

I just wanted to ask - I know there are already many posts out there asking what needs to be included and what needs to be done when sending a letter overseas to a celebrity. But none of them seem to give the answer that I want. So if I may ask...

What are the things that need or should be included in the envelope? I know that I should have IRCs, an SASE, a photo that I would like signed, oh and the letter itself. Is there anything else? And how do I stamp it? I am trying to send it FROM Australia TO the USA. Do I place a US stamp on the front of my actual envelope or an AUS one? And on the SASE what stamp do I place on that?

Sorry, I just have absolutely no idea on how to send mail overseas.

And if I were to send the letter how many IRCs would be required for a single envelope? Would 3 be enough?

Thank you so much for your help and time everyone!

Outside envelope: Write their address on and stick on stamps from the country you are posting from.
Inside it: your letter, a photo if you're including one, your second envelope.
Second envelope: Write on it your address and EITHER include IRC with it (not on it) or put stamps on it (this time from the country it will be coming from, in this case USA). An envelope with stamps on is an SASE. An envelope with no stamps on (but with IRC) is an SAE.

If you wish to use USA stamps (and have some/can get hold of some) use the USPS website to calculate how many you will need. If you are using IRC, 2 should be enough, but depends on size/weight of your envelope. 3 will probably cover it.

Oh just another question...

Approximately how much would the price of the Australian stamp be if I wanted to post overseas? Because I'm pretty sure that I can't use something like a 45c stamp. How much would the value have to say on the stamp?

Thanks again.

It depends on the weight and size of your letter. Take it to the post office and have it weighed, or use the Australia Post website http://auspost.com.au/index.html. They probably have a calculator or some sort of table that you can use to find out.
