Re: Comic Book Collectors

Hey guys. I enjoy comics, yet don't really collect them, but I keep up with what's going on but never got one signed. I just bought one and wanted to know, the plastic sleeves they come in and/or you buy, are those 100% safe for autographs? Or are there special ones for auto'd ones? Below is what I bought, it was an impluse buy and I know dude made a killing off me but I dont care. I been wanting a real auto from Matt for the last 10 years, and a trip to Comic-Con would cost me more than this did.

Thanks for any advice.

The bag it is in is fine for now, but you might want to go to a comic shop and get a heavy duty mylar sleeve and acid free backboard.

Mylar-D bags such as Arklite Mylar Bags are known to keep comics safe for decades. Get acid-free cardboard backings that are sure to prevent mold, chemical reactions and yellowing, such as R-Kival brand Thin-X-Tender backings.

Congrats on getting such a great autograph. It may have been pricey but think of what a cultural icon he created.
Use google before you ask. Seriously.

Thanks for the comment. I have about 1000 Simpsons Items in my "simpsons room" and have just wanted his for a long time.

I paid $100 for it, but I've convinced myself I saved money:

Trip To Comic-Con: Hotel, Plane Tickets, Car Rental, Food, Comic Con Tickets and this comic for $10: $1010

Buy this off ebay: $100

so now my math says I saved $910, that I now can spend on more fun stuff right? lol.

Just curious Darby where do you go in Florence for comics or do you head more towards Huntsville? I am not a huge fan of The Deep in Hunts.
Scifi, comic books and a few other areas are my interests in autograph collecting. If you want to talk feel free to pm me.

When it comes to buying comics I'm not too much of a collector. If I do I pretty much stay mainstream and can find what I want at Books A Million. The place over in downtown Florence I've been in a few times, but that was just to find some figures of the Joker awhile back.

I did go to Huntville the other day with a couple of comic book store addresss in my cell phone but I ran out of time and didn't get to check them out.

I really buy more comic book action figures and statues than I do the actually comics.

I met Matt at Comic-Con back in 2008, and even that took a great deal of luck and some extra cash on top of the trip expenses. So even if you went out to San Diego, it's still pretty difficult to meet him and get his autograph. Neat autograph you got, congrats.

On another note, yesterday I got my envelope back from Sal Buscema. Return to Sender. :(
