Re: Playbill Collectors
Does anyone know if the Harry Connick, Jr. concert has a playbill? I doubt it does, since it doesn't run very long. I was either going to send a photo or request a playbill.

Re: Playbill Collectors
I've just started collecting Playbill's of one of my favourite actors, Maxwell Caulfield's stage performances. Most of these were in the 1980s and 1990s and it's proving difficult to find some of them on eBay, and when I do a lot of them are ridiculously priced. Anyone know of a decent site that has a wide range of playbills?
Re: Playbill Collectors
Hi there! I am so glad that I found this site, and message board. I recently went to the Addams Family, and would like the cast to sign my playbill. I am willing to send the playbill as well as a SASE.
So when I send out the letter, and address the envelope to the stage manager of The Addams Family, who do I write the actual letter to? To Whom It May Concern?
Also, how much longer is Nathan Lane, Bebe Neuwirth and the other cast members going to be performing in the show? Are they going to keep this show open for the rest of the year? Also, if I lets say send out my envelope tomorrow, and the cast members are going to be leaving in September, do I still have a chance for the playbill to be signed and sent back to me?
Also, in the letter, should I specify that I would like the whole cast to sign it, or is that being too pushy, and I should accept whoever signs it for me?
I've tried to call the theater to ask some of these questions, but unfortunately they won't tell me anything.
Hopefully you guys will be able to!
Thanks!

Hello!
I'm glad you enjoyed the Addams Family. Caught it twice myself. Answers to your Qs:
"So when I send out the letter, and address the envelope to the stage manager of The Addams Family, who do I write the actual letter to? To Whom It May Concern? "
Send it to:
Stage Manager of "The Addams Family"
c/o Lunt Fontanne-Theatre
ADDRESS - on a different thread
New York, NY zip code
Address your letter to "The Cast & Crew"
"Also, how much longer is Nathan Lane, Bebe Neuwirth and the other cast members going to be performing in the show? Are they going to keep this show open for the rest of the year? Also, if I lets say send out my envelope tomorrow, and the cast members are going to be leaving in September, do I still have a chance for the playbill to be signed and sent back to me?"
Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth are contracted through March 2011 as of right now. Some of the other cast members are contracted through the end of October, I believe, and some will be sticking with it for a while. Rumor has it Nathan Lane may be doing a film or another play, and may opt out of his contract in the fall. The show didn't get good reviews by any stretch (quite frankly, horrendous) and it's been rumored that several cast members are trying to get out of it.
Nathan goes on vacation at the end of Aug-Sept for a week, and Bebe goes on vacation beginning of October for a week. This won't affect you, however.
"Also, in the letter, should I specify that I would like the whole cast to sign it, or is that being too pushy, and I should accept whoever signs it for me?"
Yes, absolutely suggest "I would appreciate if the entire cast could sign the playbill." Don't hold your breathe for Terrence Mann, or Nathan Lane. I believe Bebe usually always signs, but Mann generally doesn't and Lane is up in the air. The way this process works is that a box of playbills goes around backstage dressing room to dressing room with a marker attached and the individual cast members sign it.
I sent a while ago and have not heard back, so I'm guessing that box is getting sent around right now.
Good luck!
You could always write to Nathan, or Bebe individually if you don't hear back in say a month or two. That's what I usually do. If Lane or Bebe are leaving, I'll be sure to post it.
The staff at Addams isn't that friendly, but they wouldn't have any answers on mail signings, and if they did they don't want this practice being public. It's generally a Broadway-fan only thing, but obviously autographs are involved and people on here jump the bandwagon.
Atleast you saw it, so kudos to you :-). Many people who have gotten responses from them have not, have no means to see it, and no intention to see it regardless, which is what irks me. I dished out my $92, and don't hear back from a show that I've seen and also am so familiar with the entire cast, but someone else gets it who isn't even seeing it / know a song / nothing.
Any other Qs, let me know!

Unfortunately it's either eBay, occasionally craig's list, or trader's rings. Post the ones you're looking for, I may be able to help.Zorin wrote:I've just started collecting Playbill's of one of my favourite actors, Maxwell Caulfield's stage performances. Re: Playbill Collectors
TheScarletPimpernel- Thank you so much for answering all of my questions! I really appreciate it!
I guess if I get my playbill out in the mail tomorrow, it might still have a chance of being signed by the cast even if they pull out in the fall.
Off to write my letter. Good luck with receiving your signed playbill!

Re: Playbill Collectors
I'm hoping to send out my letter tonight. Should I decorate the envelop? Does the cast pay more attention to a letter that has a nicely decorated envelope?
Re: Playbill Collectors
Thanks. It was Our Leading Lady (Manhattan Theatre Club), Class Enemy at the Player's Theater NY & An Inspector Calls (1992) Broadway (New York) & Royal National Theatre, UK. I understand these are pretty obscure ones so thanks for checking.TheScarletPimpernel wrote:Unfortunately it's either eBay, occasionally craig's list, or trader's rings. Re: Playbill Collectors
Does anyone know if $39.95 for a Closer Playbill signed by all 4 of the original cast (Natasha Richardson, Rupert Graves, Anna Friel, and Ciaran Hinds) is a good deal?
Re: Playbill Collectors
Well, I guess it would depend on whether or not the signatures are authentic. Considering that Ms. Richardson passed away in 2009 the price seems too low, and when the price is unusually low it usually signals forgery to me. I would research the authenticity of all autographs you want to purchase and buy from only trusted sources.jadziadax wrote:Does anyone know if $39.95 for a Closer Playbill signed by all 4 of the original cast (Natasha Richardson, Rupert Graves, Anna Friel, and Ciaran Hinds) is a good deal?
