I have 1,073 autographs. Been collecting since 2006.
I dont have 1,073 seprate celebs autographs. quite a few are are doubles(send more than 1 item)
I am a big TV/Movie watcher, so i write to alot of the celebs which i am a fan off.
I would say i get 2 autographs per week on average. some days i dont get any autographs for weeks, and some i get everyday for one week. I say how much you send out, the more you get back. Make sure your a fan of them though  I know some people that write to people that they dont know just to get thier autographs. i'm trying to save some money so im limiting my requests.

The cynic in me says that it isn't impossible to claim to have thousands of autographs when you don't have a scanner - so you don't have to show evidence of same, or refuse to post the address - because you were asked not to, or not post the e-mail address - because it's against the rules. These things being the case, I could claim to have a million billion.

I am not saying everyone who uses those reasons are not sincere, but to think it doesn't happen is naive. Not to mention those who I believe are faking the funk - I've only been here a short time but I have a pretty good idea which posters are scribbling all over things then saying they got these fifteen signatures from their very bestest buddy in the whole world, Celebrity Name Goes Here.

Just calculate the numbers. If you send one request a day, that's 365 a year. Subtract the Sundays due to no mail service and that's 313 a year. Assuming every one of those requests gets a response, it would take over three years to get 1,000. So unless someone has been collecting for years or sends tens of letters out per day...

I have a large collection by doing it slowly and steadily for many years. I got my first autograph almost 40 years ago. Since 1986 when I started keeping track of my TTM requests I've averaged about one a day. Besides this method, I regularly buy vintage autographs on Ebay, and do some IP events too.

Over 9,000 requests sent since 1986.

I started back in 2003 and have almost 1,400 autographs. I send lots of custom items and also a lot of email requests. & I scan EVERYTHING in once I receive it too, so others can see what ones I get back. {up}

Why is it impossible for people to like that many celebs?! There are a TON of celebrities I love, and a ton of celebrities who's autograph I'd like to have.
Another important thing to remember is that just because someone sends out a request, doesn't mean they are a HUGE fan of the celebrity. Some people simply want someone's autograph because it would be a neat addition to their collection, not necessarily because they're a huge fan. Not everyone writes letters only to people they really really love.
yeah good point i wasnt thinking of it like that i was just thinking about how i send out stuff personally

I have a pretty big collection with several hundred signed items and posters. I could probably have thousands but I only send to people that I want. Some I think send to anyone and everyone that signs. I send to people from select shows and movies that I love.
I also get cast signed posters at conventions and have a lot of those. And the rest of my collection is Indianapolis Colts signed items mainly from training camps.

I have so much stuff that from time to time I like to trade or move some of my doubles. I still wonder why people send out so many requests???

i agree a lot with this and ryan. i used to collect sport cards but it was getting way too expensive for me. i'd spend anywhere from $200-$300 every 2 weeks... and i have a wife and 2 kids to take care of. sure it was selfish, but its somewhat an addiction so i found this hobby as a much cheaper alternative and i'm not even spending $40 a month.

a lot of celebs include 1 or more of their own photos as well as sign what you send them. sometimes i have a hard time thinking about what i would like them to sign, or how a certain item will turn out once its signed so i usually send 2-3 items per celeb... then if they include anything extra things can add up quickly.

50 autographs since february of this year is pretty good, that works out to be about 7 a month. Do you know roughly how many requests you sent out because i find i only get back about 25% of what i send out but i also send to alot of hard to get people.

I m curious why have you not posted any of these 50 successes? It's not really fair to use this site for addresses then not post successes so others know the address is good ?

People afford stamps by working. If you are not paying for your own postage then someone else is supporting your habit.
