Did they say whether it was their decision to do this or the book's writer?Ink&Bones wrote:Well, after being given the run-around most of the day, the receptionist at HarperCollins finally put me thru to the Editor of 'America By Heart'. I can't remember what his name was, but he admitted that the signatures were autopenned. He said this happens a lot in the publishing industry. He said he's "sorry" and that it "is mis-leading", and that the "only way to get an authentic signature is to attend one of the book-signing events or to buy the limited edition, leather-bound signed book". What a jerk!! And what a horrible company!!
They should really pull those copies off the shelves. Though not against the law to sale autopens as such, I admit it is misleading.
Also, strikes me as odd that the "signed first edition" copies of Going Rogue appear to have been legit hand-signed.
I wonder why this book was different..
