Detroit Tigers Autograph Collectors

Unread post by rocksoldier »

Hi,

I collect baseball autographs TTM, but specifically concentrate on the Detroit Tigers. Ive lived in Michigan my entire life (37 years) and love the Tigers. My main goal is to collect every Topps Tiger card (main set and traded/update sets only). Then to get as many of them signed as possible. Right now I have everything, minus a few traded set or multiple player (like league leader) cards, from '74 to current, plus the '68 team set, and a few dozen ranging from '56-'67. Id say that about 1/4 of them are signed right now.

Anyone else specifically collecting Tigers?

I'm a baseball autograph collector for 18 years now. I live near Oakland and pretty much doing the same thing you are doing but with the A's. I spent many years behind the dugout and was able to get some awesome Tiger autographs in my time. Including Trammell, Whitaker and the great Ernie Harwell. Its always a thrill to get to meet your favorite players and support your favorite baseball team. Good luck in your Tiger project.

Almost sounds like a "reverse" field of dreams.

I also collect team-themed autographs, but with the Red Sox and the Pirates. I still collect other players though. I'm also trying to get some of the guys from the Blue Jays world series winning teams, and Buffalo Bills players from the Marv Levy/Jim Kelly era.

Thanks :)

I could fill a lot of blank spots in the collection if Trammell (who is my favorite player of all time), Whitaker, and Morris would start signing lol

I have all three on other things, but not cards for the collection.

I have Ernie on a few pocket schedules, and some Tiger team cards. He was as much of a Tiger as anyone, so I wanted him in the collection.

I think Dave Rozema and Dan Petry do things like that, maybe its one of them.

They were all deceased (Cash, Wilson, and Sparma) by the time I started to collect so I bought them -- two from a dealer and one on-line...they are all authenticated and slabbed by PSA. Currently Mayo Smith is my most wanted...but....
