Re: Wrestling Collectors?
Yeah its always good to see the greatest ref ever! Baby Doll was cool. Her and the Rock N Roll Express were in the ring at intermission taking pics for $10 a pop and they were printed out and signed before the end of the show. The show was pretty cool. A complete sellout with standing room only. I think Severn will be back in April supposedly so we will see.
Re: Wrestling Collectors?
Just got back from the NWA Southwest show here in town. Great turn out from a very loud crowd. History was made tonight as for the very first time in it's illustrious history the NWA World Heavyweight Championship was defended in Brownsville, Texas, when Champion Adam Pearce faced off with former WWE Superstar Carlito. With Sean Waltman and Pat Tanaka also on hand for the evenings events this was the largest collection of superstars on hand for a non-wwe event.
During Intermission Carlito was out signing autographs and taking photos for free. He had the last 8x10s available (same style as the famous Sheamus one that many members of this thread received) for $10 and he was signing and personally brought memorabilia for free. Because of so many complaints after last month's show and how the signing was organized (or it's lack thereof) the company ran the intermission until every last person that wanted to meet Carlito got through which only took about half an hour. After the show itself Sean Waltman came out and signed to close out the evening staying a whopping two-and-a-half hours later after the show taking the time to sign anything put in front of him along with take pictures and chat with the fans. Carlito seemed to be in a bit of a mood and almost seemed bothered by anyone coming up to him, but Waltman absolutely blew me away with how giving he was to his fans.
I ended up getting out with a signed '05 Raw Magazine with Carlito, Candice Michelle, and Torrie Wilson on the cover signed along with an '07 Heritage card signed by Carlito. Waltman signed the TNA '10 New Era event-worn shirt card along with a '98 WWF Superstarz attitude card, the February '00 issue of WWE magazine with DX on the cover in mobster get up, and a TNA 8x10 from last year personalized and wrote 'suck it' and drew an arrow down to the TNA logo. When I told him what a let-down it had been that TNA pulled him from the Fan Interaction because they advertised all-three members together he seemed a bit irked talking about the situation as to why he was pulled from the Lockdown pay per view. For those that aren't aware, Missouri is one of the many states that regulate professional wrestling and require that all wrestlers have a wrestling license in order to perform in the state. to qualify for said license the wrestler in question must submit to a physical and blood work. Because Waltman has Hepatitis the Missouri State Athletic Commission wouldn't allow Waltman to perform in the cage match at Lockdown against Team 3D because of the chance that Waltman would be cut in the middle of the match, in which case the match would have to be stopped immediately and sanitation efforts would have to be performed to clean up any area where he may have bled.
To cover up their own oversight, TNA told fans that attended the weekend's Fan Interaction event that Waltman was a no-show and even had TNA Commentator Taz make a remark about 'Sean Waltman being Sean Waltman.' I had the opportunity to speak with him for a few minutes regarding this issue and he genuinely seemed sorry that he disappointed any of the fans that weekend, and he said that the story TNA made up was a crock because he told TNA management of the issue a month before the match was even scheduled, and TNA management told him that he didn't have to show up that weekend to any of the events (because they would have to pay him). Waltman did make one final appearance with TNA after the Lockdown events where he was shown laying in a pool of his own blood teasing that he'd been jumped in the back before the show. He said that afternoon at the Impact tapings that Taz was really upset that management would put him in such a spot where he would have to insult a talent in the manner he was told to in the case of Waltman not being at the show.
According to the man himself though he will be taking a few months away from the ring to heal up before making a play at returning to the WWE to help the younger talent in FCW. Waltman seemed excited about the possibility of returning to the company to help out, and really appreciated everyone coming out and sticking around after the show.
This is a first-hand testimonial to what a great guy Waltman is, if you ever have the opportunity to meet him and even if all you do is shake his hand I'd advise everyone to go out of their way to do so. He's one of the guys that seem to really appreciate the fans.

I wonder if they would've let him work any match at all. There's always the threat of being busted open the hardway.roulette wrote:For those that aren't aware, Missouri is one of the many states that regulate professional wrestling and require that all wrestlers have a wrestling license in order to perform in the state. to qualify for said license the wrestler in question must submit to a physical and blood work. Slayerfan - That's cool about RnR and Babydoll! Hopefully Severn can make it next time around.
roulette - Awesome story! You've honestly echoed everything I've heard about both of those stars. Carlito was recently in my area for an indy show and they said he would be doing a meet and greet and posing for pictures and everything.. a few buddies that attended said he signed for MAYBE 30 minutes and didn't take any pictures. They said when he was done he just up and left.. with people waiting. Said the promoters were even a little confused. On the other hand, I have heard nothing but good things about Waltman. Shockingly enough! That's a great story about his license. Crazy stuff! I agree with Cubsfan, you would think that would keep him from ANY match there.. not just a cage match. Congrats on a great haul!

Re: Wrestling Collectors?
thats awesome to hear about waltman. i met him probably 15 - 16 yrs ago (he was still the 123 kid), and surprisingly enough, he was signing with scott hall (razor ramon at the time). they were in cleveland for the royal rumble i think and they had a signing at a quick lube place. both guys were super friendly, and were nothing like their characters that they played. its nice to see guys still appreciate their fans. i know when i met jake the snake last yr, he was really cool. everybody kept asking where the snake was, but when i got to meet him and we started talking, he realized that i was more than just a casual fan that remembered him because of his gimmick. we ended up talking for over an hour about how wrestling has changed and the toll it takes on the guys bodies and brains. he ended up signing a couple pics for free (after i had bought 1 and had a pic taken with him for 10 bucks). seeing that, it makes it really sad to see a guy like carlito, who hasn't done that much, act like its a chore to meet fans and act the way he does.

Re: Wrestling Collectors?
Thats great about meeting X-pac. I have always been a big fan of his and have always wanted to meet him. He was meant to do a signing in the UK before he joined TNA last year but he cancelled (not sure if it was because of TNA or because the promoter was a scam artist) He's meant to be coming to England in May but i can't make it.
I'm sure i will meet him one day.

Re: Wrestling Collectors?
No TTM today but my FANTASTIC luck continued with WWE Platinum and I got some of my things from eBay.
My eBay purchases were all WWE Platinum : Big Show relic (base) MVP relic (base) DH Smith relic (base) Tyson Kidd relic (base) and Heath Slater blue parallel (#ed to 199)
My amazing pack pull came in the form of a green parallel (#ed to 399) John Cena patch ! This makes the 5th rack pack (3 packs plus 3 xfractors) and so far I have pulled a Big Show base relic (for trade) a Kelly Kelly base auto and a John Cena patch parallel
