My first in-person autograph: CARMEN ELECTRA

Unread post by gghi18 »

Hi, on March 5th, 2011, I saw on Carmen Electra’s Facebook that she was going to be at the Arnold Classic event in Ohio (which I am only 10-15 minutes away from) promoting HCG Platinum from 1pm-3pm. Once before, I wanted to meet Carmen for a book signing but I was still in high school (it was a school night) and my dad wouldn't let me go. :( But I was determined to meet her eventually because I am a big fan and today was the day! The website said she would be there but I was not certain if she would be signing autographs or talking about the product she was promoting. Regardless, I got there and I was driving my car with nearly no gasoline but it was short notice and I did not have time to get gas because I might be late and miss her due to a long line (I never thought Carmen would be at Arnold Classic. LOL).
Beginning with parking, it was pandemonium from the start. I met a friendly older couple who helped me find the correct building because I was confused where it was as I had never been there before and this was their third time going. There were so many people going into different entrances and I was certain that most were going to the Arnold Classic but I was not sure which one was the best to go in. Luckily, we went into the right one and the fee was $15.00 to enter (and parking was $20.00 which I found to be ridiculous). I asked one of the guidance booths where to go to meet Carmen and she helped me find the right location to go in.
Let me just say, I have been collecting autographs (TTM) since I was 12 and I am 20 now. I am NOT used to the pure chaos of meeting celebrities in person so this was definitely an experience. ha ha! I looked all over the place for the booth and I could not find it. Finally, some guard pointed the right direction and I saw the booth. Unfortunately, she was 15 minutes late and the fans waiting were getting restless. Once she entered, the crowd began to cheer and wave. I really was shocked at how terrible the employees set things up. There was no rope or anything to keep a structured line. It was a big an enormous of people meshed together. Once people’s curiosity caught there eye and found it was Carmen Electra that everyone was eye-goggling at, people began to cut in front in line. The people who had been waiting were not happy, including me. lol (There was one girl who had been waiting since 9am and others 11:00am) I met a few people in the line who were a lot of fun and we talked and complained about the frustrating ditchers. haha! We decided, because we had been waiting for almost two hours, we were going to move ourselves in front of the ditchers. We finally we're getting closer and it began to hit us with relief that the waiting was worth the wait. :) I had brought 2 pictures for her to sign and a drawing I of her to give as a present.
I was so happy because the worker told me I was going to meet her. I was concerned because we had been waiting for so long and it was getting close to 3pm (when she was going to leave). I would have been devastated if I had waited, the only reason I went to Arnold Classic ironically, and not had the chance to meet her. I asked the security guard if it was okay to give her my drawing. He was very friendly; smiled and said, "Sure, that's really nice. No one has done that for her yet today." When I approached her, she was still talking to a fan so I didn't want to interrupt them. Then she turned to me and was extremely friendly. Carmen is a gorgeous woman but she looked stunning in-person.
I was very impressed with myself because I have never met anyone famous before and I had no clue how I would react, whether I be speechless or intimidated. To my surprise, I was very calm and acted as if she were a distant friend. She instantly commented on my shirt (it was a picture of Lindsay Lohan from "Machete"). She said, "Oh my god, I love that movie." She had provided her own photos which was lovely because mine were not the best quality. I asked for one for me and my best friend and she was totally cool about it. When she asked how to spell my name, if it were MARC or MARK. I told her it was Mark with a K and she told me about her brother who is also named MARC. When I gave her my drawing, she was very pleased and seemed to really appreciate it which resulted in her giving me a hug *heart stops* haha! :) I wanted to get a photo with her but they had a photographer take the photos at the booth and we are supposed to go to this site and download them there. So when I get the photo, I will definitely post it (I’ve checked and it is not online yet but I was told it would be later tonight). I will post my autograph too!
I have to say, my first experience with a celebrity went well. Carmen was very friendly and it was worth waiting for. I will say, people were very vicious and selfish at the event. I was stuck shoulder to shoulder with other people for two hours so it wasn't the most comfortable but I will remember this forever. :) P.S. I did not see Arnold because I did not have nor desire to pay such a heaping amount of money to meet him. The people there were in terrific shape and the body builders were definitely intimidating. Lol
I appreciate and welcome comments on the authenticity of autographs I have received. Thank you! Sincerely, gghi18 8)
