Not to take sides or anything (& Im NOT taking sides...) but you being arachael wrote: Baiting a troll is never a wise idea.
trainee mod or whatever, you shouldnt be calling anyone a troll...thats
calling someone out of their name and its rude. And its your job to step in
as a mature adult, tell them both to cool down and take it from there.
But the name-calling thing isnt the correct step.
CASSIE: This is for you too.

Re: New Year's Eve (2011)
A troll is someone who deliberately posts inflammatory comments for the sake of a reaction, which is what Cassie was doing, so it was not meant to be an insult I don't think. It was a matter-of-fact remark.dueby_boys wrote:Not to take sides or anything (& Im NOT taking sides...) but you being arachael wrote: Baiting a troll is never a wise idea.

That is beside the point. As a mod trainee their job is not to name call. Its to be mature and try to settle the issues between the two members...So just because "Cassie" was saying rude things, its not the trainee's job to say those things, its kinda like having a job: you would never call someone a name while training for a job would u? LOL! And U would never see RYAN J. name calling because he actually tries to solve the issues between people.Jaffer wrote: A troll is someone who deliberately posts inflammatory comments for the sake of a reaction, which is what Cassie was doing, so it was not meant to be an insult I don't think. I'm locking this topic as it has gotten way out of hand. If you have a problem with another member, report the post or contact a member of the Admin team and we will deal with it.
For the record, we do not ban people after one incident for poor behaviour. Should rude behaviour continue, a warning will be given.
We have no position on VV addresses being posted or not; it is up to members to use their discretion. If someone does not wish to post an address that is up to them; you cannot threaten someone or insult them because you do not like it.
Also I would request that users who DO NOT wish to post the address DO NOT post on topics with the explicit intention of saying so. It's rude and in effect going "nyah nyah I have it and you don't". It is true that members could do their own research to find addresses however it is not your place to repeatedly bash them over the head with this fact!
Anyone still having issues can take it up with me via PM.

She wasn't name calling. "Troll" is not an insult, it is an internet term. As Jaffer explained, it's a term used for one someone posts comments for the sake of getting a reaction. That person is said to be "trolling" or "being a troll". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) I'm not particularily sure it is a fitting description in this case, but it's not "name calling".dueby_boys wrote:That is beside the point.
