Hey guys
tinker_mel also approached me asking about becoming a moderator, (before I saw this post), and I said I was OK with it.
The reason being is that we are still very short of Moderators (at least moderators who post on a consistently regular basis

)
There are still dozens of post going unanswered every day, but with the visitor number dramatically increasing.
My main reason for saying yes to Mel was because at this stage she could prove she was a competant member who was polite and helpful. Although she might not have a massive amount of experience, surely this is better than getting to the point of having to appoint much less professional / well equipped mods because we are so desperate
Of course, if it were not for the incredibly high quality of the vast majority of our moderators, then we would not be able to take on a less-experienced member,
but if she does join us I know we will all be able to help her
With regard to the criteria (as far as I am aware!), a moderator has to have proven that they can post legible and helpful material (the number is not so important), and have been posting for a "reasonable" length of time, possibly 2 months or so?
You are right though nowandagain, as I understand it, in order to be a moderator, then you must not have direct involvement in another similar forum. As far as I can tell, tinker_mel has closed her forum, but it might be worth mentioning this clause before she is given the position?
Perhaps Admin can correct/confirm what I have said
Cheers!
Ian
