Wow...my 1st conflict as a moderator

Unread post by elmomommyto2 »

Ok...why is Darrell_Crisp coming unhinged on the Feedback forum? I simply reminded him that dates need to be posted along with successes and I guess that really rubbed him the wrong way. I guess he doesn't know that people actually do post some older successes here sometime and since those are his first posts, I'm none the wiser to his posting habits :x! Any advice on what to do about this one? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Really there is nothing you can do. Just remind him about it. Usually they just start putting it in their feedback after awhile.

These things happen. You did a great job Lisa {up}.

You made a great suggestion about the excel spreadsheet (I do that too!) Eventually, people on the forum do start to remember to keep track of things. It just takes a little while, that's all. Remain patient :D

Hi guys {up}

I looked at this Darrell_Crisp and he was basically out of order. He only joined today, and he has already made 22 pretty pointless posts.

I gave him a 14 day warning, and told him to be more polite and not be rude to moderators and other users.

Remember, you are quite within your rights to give any member a warning for rudeness or other unnaceptable behaviour. You can set the time length of the warning, so just be realistic :P

Also, if he continues to post without any dates / scans / addresses (without explanation) he should receive another warning with an explanation from you as to what he is doing wrong. For offences like this I would suggest a 7 day warning.

Just remember, if he gets 3 he is banned, so be careful not to go over the top :lol:

PS. In case you don't know, you give a warning by clicking the "yellow card" on the right of the screen in the offending post :wink:

well I dont think he is going to be a problem. I just a got a pm from him telling me he is just going to stop posting then. I told him Im sorry he feels he has to stop but posting the dates is a rule of the forum. Oh well I guess.

Thanks for backing me up, guys :D! I thought it was strange that he posted 22 times in his first day, but I thought maybe I was the only one thinking that ;). Excel is so easy to keep track of addresses, that's it's almost rediculous NOT to :). I'm a mom of one, working on two...I think if I can handle it then so can he ;).

I saw how to issue a warning, I just wasn't sure of how strict to be with them. Like Ian said, I don't want to get crazy with them by any means. And I didn't know how much the date thing would bother anyone else besides me (but it IS part of the rules!). This was a nice one to get my feet wet ;)....

You were right Lisa {up}

All posts need:
A sent date.
A received date.
The address tested.
What was received.

(optional, but advised!!)
Scan of autograph and envelope.
Details of whether an SASE is used.
Other helpful info as appropriate.
