I hunt down pics myself and then upload them to photo printing websites like Photo Box or Aldi Print.

The best thing to do is get photos off the internet then upload them to a photo center like Walgreens, Rite Aid or Snapfish then you can get a professionally made glossy photo for $3.00. Yes, I said 3 dollars. Shipping to your home is only a few cents. Yes, I said a few cents. So with mailing to the star then their return postage the total project would be about $5 or $6. The thing that costs the most is your time for having to wait for the entertainer to return an authentic signed photo.

So I am thinking about trying this out. I'm a Huge Fan of Cheers and I want to get some of the casts autographs. Anyway I am just curious am I better off sending a picture and getting it signed or just a letter for them to sign. Also when people use these addresses do they ever write letters and get responses?

Hi, Yes, this is a great site to write to entertainers, etc. You just have to take your chances. First check here to see feedback others have left. See if others say they reply or request money. In any case just send your letter of request and SASE. Maybe you will be the first to get a reply. It's up to you if you decide to send a photo. Just remember that if YOU send the photo, if they are going to sign at all, you will get an original signature. Take into consideration who you are sending request to. If the person is famous and popular, maybe they don't sign or just send out preprints. Here is an example. I sent a photo out to Robert Redford, now we all know he is very famous and busy so I took my chances. I requested it personally named to me just to cover my requests. Well what I got back was a preprint postcard AND my photo with a REAL autograph only, not personalized to me. If I had just sent a letter then I probably would have just gotten the preprint postcard. Second example, I sent a photo and request to David McCallum who is popular and busy but i got my photo personally autographed WITH a persoanlly autographed NCIS photo. (not just my photo). Third example, let's say you are writing a classic elderly actor. They will not only sign your photo but send you many other photos they have at hand and maybe write a whole letter! Elderly actors also have a very fast turn around in reply, a week at the most. So go ahead, and take your chances!! {up} GOOD LUCK!

Do you know how Walgreens compares to WalMart Photo? I have been using WalMart but I've never used Walgreens.

Walgreens and Walmart should be more or less the same, since they use the same lab. Looks like Walgreens is a bit more expensive though.
