Favorite no cape comic? I have always loved Conan. Hellboy and the whole BPRD gang is up there too.

I have not been buying any DC comics right now except for Batman and Robin (and that has been very good btw). I used to love Green Lantern, but the snuff series they did "Blackest Night" was just too much for me. It had a dozen crossovers and I got lost trying to keep up. The death of Batman ticked me off too. It was lame and I used to read the Batman series. I hated that I had no idea what was going on between issues unless I bought 3 other titles that week.

I saw Superman was renouncing his citizenship. I have a sneaking suspicion they did it to draw interest in the comic and to boost sales He was supposed to be the personification of American values and morals. Has our country changed to the point that he no longer wants to be associated with it or is he now bigger than just the USA and wants/needs to help all the world? Time will tell, but I don't think he can, or would, turn his back on the country he loves and who took him in as one of thier own even if he is an alien.

Doomsday(s) is tearing up the Superman family and yet there was not a sign that this really matters at all. The storyline does not feel like it fits in to anything. The Superman family comics are just normal issues after this crossover.

And there are too many Batman titles.

I really thought they would try to have these comics make sense and feel like they matter.

Event overkill.

I could careless for Flashpoint as well. I am not looking forward to what it Fixes.

Elephantmen is/was a great idea for a story and I wish I had kept up with it. I met Richard Starkings at a convention and found him to be an amazingly nice guy. We chatted for a long time and the subject of women comic book readers came up. I told him that the store I worked at sold Elephantmen comics and that more than half of the buyers were female. He really liked hearing that and asked if I knew thier names. I could only recall one specific name since she had a saver file with us. He proceeded to sign a trade paperback for her and said, "Give this to her will you? And tell her thanks." I did and boy did she flip out when I told her about it. Good times.

The nice thing about the Batman and Robin title is that it has now settled down into a stand alone title. Bruce Wayne publicly announced that he has funded Batmans war on crime and made "Batman Inc" with several Batmen around the world. Dick Grayson took over as Batman during Waynes "death" and he gets to keep the cowl as Gotham Batman while Bruce gets to go and be a global Batman. Bruce Waynes bastard son, Damion, is Robin and it is a fun reversal of the previous Batman and Robin, where Batman was always hardcore and dark while Robin was funny and the lighthearted balance to the somber Dark Knight. Here Damion is a hardcase and VERY violent. Dick is much less intense than the original Batman. One of the better lines was Two Face figuring out that Batman was not the original one. "Look. See that? That is not the real Batman. This guy is smiling." as Dick is beating the stuffing out of some gangsters.

Flashpoint is a minor curiousity to me, but Fear Itself has my interest piqued. The books I have enjoyed the most lately have been Booster Gold, JLI Generation Lost (JLI is coming back as it its own series again for which I am happy as hell!) and the Legion comics. Walking Dead I enjoy, but mostly going after the trades of that series. I am working on collecting all the JLI comics and Starman series those are probaly my all time fave books. It's not that I am anti Marvel, but not a lot there currently making me go gaga.

I met him last year and spoke for a bit but i'll be meeting him again this Saturday so I'll speak to him longer this time and I'll be giving him a picture I've done, Elephantmen meets Star Wars. Boo Cook has seen the picture and thought it was great (actual quote) he knows about how I copied the picture of Hip Flask from issue 5 because I was just hit with an idea for it. I've been speaking to Boo since either September or October last year met him last year at the same con and he'll be there on Saturday as well.
