You can count him among my many recent successes...id have to search for the address though. I could literally fill a book with all my addresses. I'm not listing hundreds on this thread but if someone is dying to get a certain player, ill either have it or know if its even possible. Someone asked for Brandon Marshall recently..no chance now. I got c/o Broncos as a rookie because I recognized early he was a big talent. Your best bet is to buy a Marshall.slhs23 wrote:Anyone have anything on Russ Grimm home address? Im guessing the team address is no good because of the lockout so was hopeing to get him at home. Thanks

Darren Sharper

BTW...a couple tidbits from what I read on this thread, and bear in mind that I've been doing NFL TTM for 6 years now...
* I've gotten Jahri Evans and Devery Henderson c/o Saints since their SB win..saying that the Saints only sign through charity is faulty information IMO.
* In 99% of cases, you're wasting your time shooting for the moon and going after guys like Suh, Calvin Johnson, Bradford, Dez Bryant etc. Unless you find out about a charity, like in Peyton Manning's case, honestly, you're wasting your time and setting yourself up for disappointment. Bigger names = worst signers. At least search around and see if the guy does sign before you try him. There is the rare guy like Romo that does sign but all you're gonna get from Ben Roethlisberger is a thank you card.
I hate to sink peoples hopes, but I've done this a long time and seen a lot of success and a lot of dissapointment. Again, try these guys while they're in college. Me? I got Tim Tebow...in college. I got Bradford...in college. I Stafford...in High school! Lol I got Calvin Johnson....in college. Percy Harvin....in college. You see the theme. Be early on these guys, not late. Once they hit the NFL your odds just went down drastically. Their schedules got crazier, their egos a lot bigger and their wallets a lot fatter. I can recall a success with Patrick Willis while he was at Ole Miss and no one cared about him...he went so far as to give me his phone # and tell me "now I'm YOUR fan...give me a call and we can chat". And I did. Pretty damn cool...you don't get that with an NFL player. Hope that helps rather than sinks hopes and dreams...
I'm out...have fun guys

Re: NFL TTM Thread
Great advice Paul, and thanks for posting some great addresses! As far as the Saints go, you are correct. There was a time where they were sending letters back saying they only sign for charity, but that seems to have gone by the wayside. I have seen several recent pre-lockout successes sent c/o team for the Saints.
Good idea going the college route too, couldn't agree more. I've gotten a couple of successes that way myself and plan on trying a couple of home addresses for draftees that I've tracked down on my own. Haven't been able to find Ryan Kerrigan, but I'm still looking.
I also agree that trying to get "superstars" through the team is a waste of time and stamps. Sometimes sending to their home doesn't work either, so I'm sure you'd agree it depends on the player. For example I'm still waiting for Clinton Portis c/o is home in Florida, several months and still no response.
You've obviously been doing this for a long time, but please let me or anyone else know if you need any help with anything and we'll be glad to lend a hand. I'm all about helping those who like to collect their favorite players and/or teams, past and present, TTM. Again thanks for all the great info.

Re: NFL TTM Thread
Hey no problem. NFL is tricky. There could be 3-4 different routes to get a guy (home, season home, team, foundation) but only one route works while the other 3 get you nowhere. I lean toward tracking down their home addresses. As a general rule, a guys personality on television is a good guage to whether you'll ever get a ttm return. For example, I'm not surprised Portis or Dez Bryant doesn't sign. You can count out all the diva WR's, and shockingly enough, Cam Newton doesn't even sign through his home address and hasn't since his high school days. He's been an ass since he came out of the womb, in case that wasn't obvious lol. So a word of advice...don't waste the stamps on Cam Newton. Go with the higher character people and you'll see a higher success rate. You'll get just about every Offensive Lineman back and if its a QB, I'm guessing a guy like Andy Dalton or Jake Locker would be better bets.
Here's Kerrigan btw...

Re: NFL TTM Thread
Don't lose hope on sending out to team addresses either just because of the lock-out. Some teams will forward the mail to a player's home address or just toss it in their mailbox at the team facility. It isn't necessarily going in the garbage right now. There some teams though that simply don't forward mail to players. Don't even bother with the 49ers, Bears or Titans. Just about every other team you could expect a success from if you don't set your sights too high. This is to say that if you write to Maurice Jones-Drew c/o Jags, you shouldn't expect a success, but Mike Thomas would probably return it. If you want the thrill of opening the mailbox and getting a return, expand your horizens, try ther smaller-name players and you are much more likely to get a return. The problem I'm seeing here is people are sending out 20 letters and they're all Pro Bowlers. Try sending 20 out to smaller-name players and see what you get back. And that's not to say scrubs...there are a ton of good NFL players out there that don't get 1/3 of the fan mail that their star teammates get, and that's where I get a lot of my success. Over the past 6 years, my successes go well over 1,000.
Re: NFL TTM Thread
This is the thread people need to read right here, excellent info Paul! I'm glad that you've found this thread and have been nice enough to contribute (thanks very much for the Kerrigan address btw!) I hope you'll continue to do so, as I feel this should be one of the major threads on this board since the NFL is THE major sport out of the 4, in my opinion.Paul Daley wrote:Don't lose hope on sending out to team addresses either just because of the lock-out. I've had people PM me, and I have been telling them almost the exact same thing that you said in this post. To expand on it, you never know when a "role player" can turn into a superstar. Take Pierre Garcon from the Colts for example. No one could have predicted how well he would do at the beginning of the season, then he exploded into a major contributor. Probably would have been easy to get him TTM before, now might be a little harder. Bottom line for me is, collect from players and teams that you like. Don't reach for stars just because they're stars. I display all my autographs that I get in my home, because I only collect my favorites.
So in the spirit of sharing, here are some teams I have had good experience sending to TTM and seem to have high success rates: Colts, Packers, Redskins, Raiders, Cardinals, and Panthers (mostly during trainging camp for Carolina.)
I have several new requests going out today, some are addresses I am testing. If I get a success, I will post it along with the address. Good luck to all!

Re: NFL TTM Thread
Np...NFL is 90% of what I collect too (5% NBA & 5 % UFC...hate baseball believe it or not). When I started, I made the same mistakes and shot for the moon. You learn over time to start out small and hope they develop...like Garcon. I shudder to think all the stamps I wasted early on trying guys Brady and Manning and getting the blow-off letters. Speaking of getting guys done early, Andrew Luck, the guy that everyones going to be jonesing to get this time next year, is signing freely c/o Stanford Athletic Dept. There's your chance to be early on a guy that probably won't sign when he gets to the NFL.

Great posts Paul and Shadow!!!
I would love to see this thread continue to grow. I am currently seeking HOFers in basketball and hockey, but mainly football. I'm willing to pay up to perhaps $20 for a signature but I'd rather spend $10 or less.
Paul- Thanks for the Yale Lary address. I was the one looking for it.
Happy collecting!!!

Re: NFL TTM Thread
I know this isn't an NBA thread, but Jeff the NBA Hall of Fame has a list of hall of famers on their website who will accept fan mail c/o the HOF so there's a start. As far as football goes, you looking for HOFers from specific teams or just HOFers in general? Not sure if I asked that or not, but I'll help if I can.jeff7915 wrote:Great posts Paul and Shadow!!!
