Re: NFL TTM Thread
The overwhelming majority of those listed on there are going to send you a price list. I know Cousy charges $50 for just a small item. At their "prices" you might just as well buy a certified on ebay. I would use the same principle as the NFL...go small unless you know they sign.
Re: NFL TTM Thread
Shadow-
Thanks for the advice for the NBA HOFers. I actually have been using the list on the Basketball Hall of Fame site. I've noticed they aren't as up to date as they should be. I have already had three letters returned to me that I sent c/o the Hall. (CM Newton, Kundla & Wanzer). I have had quite a few successes and there are those (as Paul has mentioned) that are on the list that charge. (Cousy and Thurmond just off the top of my head). I now use the list as a last resort.
BTW...There is a Basketball HOF thread out there started by vjw.
As far as NFL HOFers are concerned, there are many that I haven't seen on this, or any other websites. The ones that I am most curious about are:
Bobby Bell
F Biletnikoff
C Eller
M Haynes
K Houston
John Johnson
R Wehrli
R Yary
Take care guys!!!

Re: NFL TTM Thread
If you're talking about Ken Houston of the Redskins, he does some personal appearances in my area (even though I've yet to make to to one.) I'll let you know if he comes through anytime soon, I might be able to get something for you. Could've sworn I saw an address for him somewhere, so I'll dig for it.jeff7915 wrote:Shadow-

Re: NFL TTM Thread
Jeff- those guys are tough gets TTM. Never got a response from JHJ and Wehrli sent a price list. Biletnikoff is pretty much impossible, like a lot of those old Raiders. Believe me, they've taken that chip on their shoulder into old age. I remember bumping into Jim Otto at the HOF gift shop in 06 when Madden was inducted. I do index cards and he just glares at me and says. "I dont sign blank cards." I was frozen for a moment before I realized I had a HOF program on me so I got him on the cover of that. None of the big-name Raiders signed. Tatum rode a golf cart back to the parking lot. If you wanted guys like Gus Otto and Art Thoms, it was ok. But biggest name that signed was Villapiano. I did get a lot of HOF'ers in general though. If you want to score some autos, go to an induction weekend. Its flooded with old players. I bumped into Tony Dorsett in the gift shop and took a piss next to Gale Sayers...that's no joke.
Re: NFL TTM Thread
Jeff, I found that address for Ken Houston, but there haven't been any successes reported since 2009. If you still want to give it a shot, I'll post it for you.
As for me, two more requests going out today for a new project I am working on. I'm going to try to get the entire Redskins 2011 Draft Class. Going out today, Ryan Kerrigan (thanks to Paul for posting) and Evan Royster. If I get a success from Royster, I'll post the address in case someone else wants to send to him. I'm sure we'd all like to save stamps if possible.
Good luck to all and keep the great posts coming! Happy collecting!

Re: NFL TTM Thread
We went the whole weekend without a single post.
Shadow- Thanks for looking into Ken Houston's address. I'll just move him to the bottom of my long list since there are many HOFers that do sign who I still need to write to.
Paul- I figured they were some of the tough ones. No big deal though. I would consider sending a card to Wehrli if the price is no more than $10. I also primarily collect index cards unless I have an old football card stored away for the good ole' days growing up. My football cards are mostly 1978-1980 Topps with "newer" sets from Pro Set (1989) and Score (1990). A lot of the collectors on this site probably weren't even born yet. (I hope this doesn't make me the "creepy" old guy
)
*Quick Basketball HOFer update- I received a response from a family member of basketball HOFer Ed Macauley. Mr. Macauley is physical unable to do any signings. Please pass this along to anyone you know who may collect basketball autographs.

Re: NFL TTM Thread
Jeff - I got a laugh out of your "creepy old guy" comment! Hahaha! We're all collectors man, no need to worry about that at all. I walked into a Game Stop a couple weeks ago and that made me feel REALLY old. I'm sure you have a ton of HOFers you can move ahead of Houston, so good luck to you. If he has any appearances near me anytime soon I'll let you know.
I'm bummed we didn't have any posts all weekend too. Even before the lockout this was a slow thread and I have no idea why. When I first started posting here I figured this thread would grow very quickly. Oh well, all we can do is keep posting and hope more people join in with us.
As for me, add Aldrick Robinson to the list of Redskins 2011 draft pick I have sent a request too. Testing out a home address I tracked down for him, hopefully it pays off. I know I could wait until training camp starts, but if I want to get all these draftees I figure I better start now. As always, I will keep you up to date on any successes. I will try to post at least once every day to keep this thread active.
Happy collecting!

Re: NFL TTM Thread
Almost forgot, for anyone collecting Heisman Trophy winners:
Charlie Ward
c/o Westbury Christian School
10420 Hillcroft
Houston, Texas 77096-9946
Never really been a fan of his, but figured I'd pass this along anyway.

Shadow-
I'm glad you enjoyed the "creepy old guy" comment. I was just joking and really don't feel that way.
At this point I have 27 NFL HOFers, but my list of those to write to is more than 30. My list of basketball HOFers who I still need to mail is also around 30. My problem is I keep jumping around instead of focusing on just one project.
Good luck with your Redskin project. On top of everything else I am collecting Baltimore Orioles (primarily 1980's and earlier) and Baltimore Colts autographs.

Re: NFL TTM Thread
Jeff - I've had the same problem, having so many projects going at once and not quite focusing in on one. I must say I've been really zeroing in on this Redskins draft pick project lately. Having a heck of a time figuring out which address to use for Leonard Hankerson, doesn't help either that he's training away from home in San Diego right now. Since they uncharacteristicly had so many picks this year, I'm trying to start with those I think are most likely to make the team and work my way down.
I'm also working on a University of Michigan football project, all time great Boston Celtics project (nearly impossible without a fee), 1999 Redskins playoff team project AND a Redskins "Hogs" project. Gotten pretty far with the Hogs, so I've put that one on hold for the draft picks. Good news is, I've seen a few successes for Charles Woodson these past couple of days, so I'm holding out hope that my Michigan custom I sent him back in AUGUST gets returned here soon.
Either sometime tonight or tomorrow, I'm going to compile a list of all the NFL team addresses and post them here for easy access. This is just to speed up the process for anyone looking for a team address, they can just come to the thread. That way if the lockout ended tomorrow (yeah right
) we would be ready to go with team addresses. As Paul suggested, some teams may still be forwarding mail so I may try a couple players anyway here in the next couple days.
