On 4-20-11 I sent an autograph request with cash donation inside to Red Schoendienst and today, 5-31-11 I got an RTS. It always makes me wonder why he writes Return To Sender which takes just as long, but its his decision...we are sending to the man's house after all. I've tried this approach many times with him and have never had a success. If anyone has any tips to send my way, I would GREATLY appreciate it. Feel free to post here or PM me. Thanks everyone and wish me luck for the next time I send him!
I collect signed Hall of fame postcards and 8x10 photos signed by baseball Hall of Famers and I'm always looking to add to my collection with players I don't have yet. Totals(not including doubles) HOF postcards: 63 HOF photos: 68
Thank you to everyone on this site for all the help!!
Well, I think he may have put RTS on it because you put DONATION ENCLOSED on the outside envelope. I would just suggest writing an excellent letter, and I bet you can get him. I got him at a Cardinal's game on a ROMLB ball. I guess if it came down to it you can cut and paste the letters in "RETURN TO SENER" to spell "RED S"
Thats definatly his hand writting...He is hit or miss TTM, I haven't been able to get him either. I'm going to try again without a donation and see where that gets me.

Do you know what his standard fee is?

Honestly...I don't think he requires one. I've seen 2 successes in the last 2 months. Once sent a donation check and he actually returned the check with the success. The other sent $5. If you can just get him to open the package, you should be fine...but good luck!

I figured the same thing but I was wrong. I actually included his address as the return address, figuring he would open, see the donation, sign, and send it back. Instead he just moved everything into my SASE and sent it back. I've tried 5 times now and still no luck. I've pretty much given up.
Its odd but there seems to be no way of telling how to get him to open the envelope. I wish I knew. I'm going to try again c/o the hall of fame. I've seen some successes from there.
Feedback is always welcomed and appreciated!
