Missed my point, I think. People once found that a very acceptable collecting practice. Quite rightly much less acceptable in our more civilized society today.

I don't think that it's weird at all. I'm not even just saying that because I collect autographs via fan mail. As long as someone doesn't constantly write to a certain celebrity, it is not stalkerish. Many celebrities enjoy seeing how much people admire them and honoring their fans' requests for autographs.

Paleontologists? Museum curators? And you prove my point! You think it's strange to collect fossils, but a display of fossilized trilobites and ancient sharks teeth or dinosaur bones would look rather interesting.

Haha... yes I do. Autograph collecting is a fun diversion, but fossils are my true passion :D . So I don't think it's strange at all

I'm the other way round! I have 1000s of autographs & dozens of fossils ;)
